Andrei Goncharov is an outstanding theater director, People's Artist of the USSR, teacher, honored art worker, Hero of Socialist Labor. The performances staged by the master were included in the Golden Fund of Russian Art.
Andrei Aleksandrovich Goncharov was born in the Ryazan region. He was born in the village of Sennitsa in 1918, on January 2. The childhood of the future famous figure passed there. After moving to the capital, Andrei was brought every summer to a dacha, which stood in the village of Prityki on the Oka coast.
Childhood and youth
The future director knew the village very well. He loved nature. In Prityki, Andryusha learned to swim, from the age of seven he learned to swim across the river. Goncharov grew up in a creative family.
Its head taught at the Philharmonic School and worked as an accompanist at the Bolshoi Theater. Mom, a professional actress, created a theater studio for local children. From the age of three, the boy was taught to play the piano. His mother taught her son's acting skills.

In 1936, Andrei Alexandrovich entered the directing department of GITIS. Without the experience required for enrollment, the attempt was a failure. After the tests, Goncharov was admitted to the course to Vasily Osipovich Toporkov. The teacher told the students about his experience of attending Stanislavsky's classes. He and Nemirovich-Danchenko had a chance to personally visit Goncharov.
After a year of study, the future director moved to the desired faculty to a student of Nemirovich-Danchenko and Stanislavsky, Mikhail Gorchakov.
The beginning of a director's career
Older fellow students did not consider the youngest student in the course as a stage director.
But he was offered many roles. Maria Ovchinnikova, who taught acting, organized an audition for Goncharov at the Moscow Art Theater. It was received by Nemirovich-Danchenko himself. The future graduate went to do his diploma work at the Ivanov Drama Theater.
He chose a vaudeville based on Korneichuk's play "In the steppes of Ukraine". The premiere was successful. With the beginning of the war, Goncharov went to the front. The future famous figure took part in the battles near Moscow. He was demobilized after being seriously wounded.
After the front, Goncharov ended up in a brigade of students of GITIS. The collective under the leadership of Nikolai Ozerov, who became a legendary commentator, gave concerts in hospitals, performed for soldiers who went to fight.
In 1942, Andrei Alexandrovich was appointed to lead the First Front Theater. The young director staged Ruzovsky Forest, The Marriage of Belugin, Wait for Me for the soldiers of the active army with the famous artists who were included in its composition.
In 1944 Goncharov began work at the Theater of Satire, where he became the director of The Marriage of Belugin. The young director was enrolled in the staff after a successful showing of the work. He created the performances "Grooms", "Taimyr Calls You".
The flowering of creativity
In 1947 the artistic director of the theater Yermolova Lobanov offered Goncharov a new job. He prepared "Xenia", "Pious Martha", "Run". In 1953 Goncharov left the troupe together with Lobanov, who had been dismissed from him. The director was able to continue his work in the Theater of the Film Actor.
Goncharov staged the Festival of Kazakh National Culture in Alma-Ata. Upon his return, in 1957, the figure headed the troupe of the new capital's drama theater.
In it, the director created "Man Alive", "Visit of a Lady", "Physics and Lyrics". Eight years of creativity have become the happiest time for Goncharov. From 1967 he moved to the Mayakovsky Theater, which he directed until the end of his life.
The Golden Fund includes the performances "Two Comrades", "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", "Children of Vanyushin". The performances of the new director revealed the characteristic features of his talent.

Since 1951, Goncharov began teaching at GITIS. The professor devoted most of his life to the directing department. Since 1981, he began to be in charge of it. Andrei Alexandrovich became a mentor to Anatoly Papanov, Evgeny Leonov, Pyotr Fomenko.
In 1966, the first film director's work of an outstanding figure came out. He created the film-play "Cola Brunion" together with Lilia Ishimbaeva. He shot the films "The Life of Klim Samgin", "Tomorrow was the war." The brilliant director has written several books.
The famous figure was able to successfully stage his personal life. As a child, a five-year-old girl Vera Zhukovskaya came to the circle that little Andryusha attended. It was love at first sight. Years passed, Vera, an actress of the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, turned into the wife of Goncharov. In 1951, a son, Alexei, appeared in the family.
The prominent figure passed away in 2001, at the beginning of September.
