According to Part 1 of Article 18 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Consumer Rights", the buyer, having discovered defects in the purchased product, has the right to refuse to fulfill the terms of the purchase and sale agreement and demand to return the amount paid for the product. In the case of returning technically complex goods, the situation becomes more complicated.

Step 1
The law stipulates that in case of deficiencies, the consumer has the right to return a technically complex product to the seller within 15 days. After this period, you can return the goods only if there are significant defects in it. Significant shortcomings are understood as shortcomings that cannot be eliminated, or their elimination will require costs and time costs disproportionate to the price of the goods, as well as shortcomings that are repeatedly identified or reappear after their elimination.
Step 2
You also have the right to demand the replacement of a defective product for a product of the same brand, or another brand, making the appropriate recalculation of the price. If you purchased an item as part of a discount promotion, it is also eligible for a return. For goods sold on credit, you must be refunded the amount of the credit repaid on the day of return, and the fee for its provision.
Step 3
An examination, which must be carried out within 20 days from the date of return of the goods, will help to confirm the defects of the goods, in case the seller refuses to reimburse its value. To avoid the substitution of a low-quality product, when transferring it for examination, draw up an act of acceptance and transfer indicating all the nuances and defects in appearance. If, in your opinion, the likelihood that the seller will cheat you is high, put the returned goods in a box and seal it with your signature, thereby excluding the possibility of additional influence on it before the examination.
Step 4
You can be present during the examination and quality control of the goods. To do this, you must inform the seller about your desire in advance. If your interests will be protected by a legal representative, issue a power of attorney for him. If necessary, for the court, you can record the process and the results of the examination on a video camera, as well as involve third-party witnesses.
