At the beginning of the 20th century, the American mission claimed a building for an embassy in the Lenin Hills region, but this venture failed. Then the US diplomatic service was located at 13 Mokhovaya Street, in the very center of Moscow, in the immediate vicinity of the Kremlin. During the Cold War, a decision was made to increase the distance, and the US Embassy moved to Novinsky Boulevard.

Other sources show a slightly different address: Moscow, Novinsky Boulevard, 19/23. How is this possible? The fact is that Novinsky Boulevard and Bolshoy Devyatinsky Lane intersect, so the embassy building belongs to both of these streets at the same time, and indeed has two addresses, both of them are correct. It is easier to find the entrance for visitors from Novinsky Boulevard.

In reality, the US Embassy is not one building. We can say that the American diplomatic mission occupies an entire block in Moscow, which is limited by Novinsky Boulevard, Konyushkovskaya Street and Bolshoy Devyatinsky Lane.
How to get to the US Embassy
Visitors applying for an American visa must enter from Novinsky Boulevard, 19. You can get there by various means of transport.
The nearest metro station is Barrikadnaya station. There is only one exit, then you need to climb up Barrikadnaya Street, then turn right at the Garden Ring and walk several hundred meters along it. The journey from the metro takes about 5-7 minutes, but if you have an interview, it's good to arrive early just in case. It is best to arrive 15 minutes before the appointed time.
The main entrance for visitors is marked with the American flag, it is the same throughout the building, so you can't go wrong by looking at it.
You can also get there by car, but remember that on the way you can get stuck in a traffic jam and be late. There are problems with parking near the embassy: there are not so many places.
How to enter the embassy
All metal objects and electronics will have to be left at the entrance. There is a left-luggage office in the embassy building, but it is better to take as few things as possible with you.
Near the main entrance there are several queues, or groups of people, each of which is assigned to a specific time. Find "friends" or ask the guard where they are. The entrance is carried out with a Russian passport, without which it is impossible to enter the embassy.
