The fate of the actor is enviable - he can live as many lives as he wants, presenting himself either as Hamlet, or as Jolly Roger, or as Peter Pan, or someone else. And at the same time he brings joy to many people, gives them minutes and hours of happiness in communicating with art.
Such a fate was chosen by the English actor Richard Coyle, who plays in the theater, acts in films, voices games and reads audio books.
Biography
Richard Coyle was born in 1972 in the English city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Their family had five sons, so Richard's childhood was filled with games and entertainment. He himself was good at entertaining the audience when he worked on the so-called "theater ferry". He was told that he had an undoubted talent for acting, and then the guy first thought about the career of an actor.
However, he did not seriously think about it, so he entered the University of York, where he studied philosophy, foreign languages, and political science. Educated in York, he immediately entered the Old Vic Theater School at the University of Bristol. There he met future actors Dean Lennox Kelly and Oded Fehr. In 1988, all three friends became graduates of this prestigious school.
Work in film and television
Richard Coyle began his television career with appearances on television programs such as Lorna Doone, The War Saga of John Reedd and Evelyn Waugh, Sword of Honor, and also starred in Mike Lee's Topsy Turvy. In 1999 he played Mr. Cox in the BBC version of Wives and Daughters. It was a big breakthrough for him, because it was for this role that the audience began to recognize him. The series told about the life of an English family in the middle of the nineteenth century.
Coyle became even more famous after he began acting in the TV series "Love for Six" (2000-2004). He played there the role of Jeff Murdoch - one of the main characters. This anxious loser turned out to be very charming and sympathetic for the actor. However, the actor himself refused to star in the continuation of the series, because he saw the danger of being stuck in one role. He said that he was glad to work on this project, but he wants to move on.
Coyle gravitated more towards theater than television or film. However, he wanted to do everything, so from time to time he agreed to roles in different projects. So, in 2002, he accepted an invitation to star in the series "The X-Files of Strange". Moreover, he got the main role here - the priest John Strange. Over the course of two years, Coyle and his partners on the set unfolded the story of the life of a priest who is accused of brutal murders in front of viewers. However, there is no evidence and he remains at large. The innocent Strange decides to investigate himself, because he is sure that the murders were committed by a demon. He calls on his good friends for help, who sometimes with the help of technology, and sometimes with the help of intuition, find the servants of the demons. The series turned out to be very interesting: each episode is a new story, in which viewers observe incredible events and dark secrets and are surprised at an unexpected and unpredictable outcome.
In parallel with acting on stage, Richard managed to appear in the films Trafficking in Persons, Franklin and Good Year. In 2006, he appeared in a new special episode Cracker: Nine Eleven and starred in the ITV film "The Informants". He also starred in the 2001 version of Othello as Michael Cassio.
In 2004, Coyle was fortunate enough to work with such celebrities as Johnny Depp, John Malkovich, Samantha Morton, Rosamund Pike, Rupert Fredn, Peter Ritter and others. Together with them, he starred in the biographical drama "The Libertine", which tells about John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester - a court poet, hypocrite and flatterer. This is the time when Charles II returned to the throne of Britain, everyone is at a loss. And Wilmot at this time indulges in every conceivable sins. This is a person without any moral guidelines and concepts. Richard in this film played Alcock - a servant of the Earl of Rochester. Its owner is the favorite of the king, however, his patience is not endless.
The audience received this film very warmly, because it tells about eternal human values: loyalty, friendship, love. And the unenviable fate of those who betray these values.
In 2010 - another interesting film work - the role of the elder brother of the Persian prince, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, in the adventure film "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time". And here again there was a stellar team on the court: Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and others.
Gradually, the actor's fame grew, and in 2010 he was entrusted with the main role in the TV series with a funny name, "The Posture", which ran for only one season. However, the audience was delighted with him. And mostly from Coyle's hero. He played here Moist van Lipwig - a swindler, a master of artistic forgery and a real specialist in forgeries. According to the plot, this extraordinary person has no other choice but to organize the delivery of mail in a small town. There is another way out - to be hanged for a crime, but this is somehow too much, according to the hero. And now a wonderful swindler with a kind heart shows such a talent as a postal worker that the audience was delighted to watch his tricks for many more years.
From the last works of the actor can be noted the series "Ruthless Sun" (2018) and "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" (2018- …).
Personal life
In 1999, while filming the TV series Becoming, Coyle met actress Georgia McKenzie, and in 2003 she became his wife. They had a daughter, Pardee, but the marriage could not be saved.
