Zeenat Aman: biography, creativity, career, personal life

She began acting in films back in the seventies of the last century and was very popular. She worked on the same site with the stars of Indian cinema: Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty and others.

She loved and was loved, did not betray, but was betrayed, did not humiliate, but was publicly humiliated. She endured a lot, and yet found the strength to return to the acting profession.

Biography

The future actress was born in Bombay in 1951 in a mixed family: her mother was half English, and her father was born in Afghanistan. He was a screenwriter and filmmaker using the pseudonym "Aman". This pseudonym became the stage name Zinat.

As can be seen from the biography of the actress, life has tested her since childhood: when she was thirteen years old, her father died. The girl was very worried because she and her father were close. And when my mother married the German engineer Heinz, she hated him.

Fortunately, he turned out to be a patient and understanding stepfather and withstood all the attacks of the teenager, made friends with Zeenat. And even helped her a lot when they moved to California.

In America, Aman entered the University of Southern California, but did not finish her education: first she began to build a career as a model, then she left back to India altogether. She started working for Femina magazine, and then became a model again in her homeland.

She won several beauty contests, and in 1970 she represented India at Miss Asia Pacific and received the main prize. This was the first time that an Indian woman became the absolute winner of this competition.

Film career

Zeenat's film debut was a failure: the films "Hulchul" and "Hungama" did not become popular, and critics smashed them to smithereens. Aman was very upset and seriously thought about whether she should act at all. At that time, my mother and stepfather decided to move to live in Malta, and she almost went with them.

However, she received an offer to shoot in the film "Brother and Sister" (1972), and she decided to make another attempt. Dev Anand became her partner - he played a brother, and Zinat played a sister. They were separated in childhood, and the heroine Zeenat became a hippie with all the ensuing consequences: parties, drinking, drugs. Her brother found her and tried to pull her out of this vicious circle, out of this way of life.

This picture received recognition from viewers and critics, everyone said that the young actress coped very well with her role. As proof - several Indian awards for Best Actress.

After such success, Aman began to receive invitations for roles from different directors, and very often she and Dev Anand were invited in pairs, because they interacted very well and understood each other on the set. This duet is most often seen in the cinema. Dev and Zeenat starred in such films as "Melody of Love" (1974), "Arrest Warrant" (1975) and others.

And photos of Aman flaunted on the covers of all the most popular magazines.

As a rule, the actress played strong women who go against their fate and overcome all the difficulties of life, showing a persistent character. Growing up partly in Western culture, she was able to afford a freer style of acting and behavior in the frame, which once served her in disservice.

When she played the girl Rupa in Rajd Kapoor's film Truth, Love, Beauty (1978), viewers found the film too erotic. And since then, she only received the role of sexy beauties.

Everything was changed by the picture "The Adventures of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" (1979), where Zinat played Fatima. This tale was interesting because it featured actors from Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan. And the main roles were played by Indian actors.

The eighties became the richest in terms of roles and filming for Zinat: in one year she could participate in several films. During this period, she was lucky to star in the film Pramod Chakravorty "Like Three Musketeers" (1984), which in India entered the list of the best films of its genre. According to the plot of the picture, three heroes stood up to fight the bandit Lakhan Singh, who wants a lot of power and wealth. Zeenat's partners in this film are Mithun Chakraborty and Dharmendra. All the actors did an excellent job of the roles, and the audience was delighted with this adventure story.

After that, tragic events temporarily pulled her out of the profession, but she was able to return to the cinema, and now her filming plan has been scheduled for several years in advance.

Personal life

The first husband of Zeenat was the famous actor Sanjay Khan. This is a very strange story, because Khan was the father of two children by the time he met the actress. It is possible that, as a supporter of free Western views, Aman agreed to become the common-law wife of the actor. However, he did not divorce his first wife, and because of this, a tragedy happened.

When Zeenat attended a social reception at one of the hotels, she was attacked by Sanjay's wife. She beat her in the face and shouted that she would not give her husband back. And the saddest thing is that Sanjay joined her and hit Zeenat so that her eye was injured. I had to go to the doctors, and since then the actress has been using glasses.

A strong woman survived this shame and returned to the cinema again, married the actor Mazhar Khan for the second time. They had sons: Azan and Zakhan.

However, here, too, problems began: her husband began to beat Zinat, insult. She wanted to divorce him, but he died because he had been ill for a long time.

And again, the actress experienced insults: Mazhar's relatives came to her house and beat her, accusing her of his death. The saddest thing was that her eldest son was with them - he was on their side.

Colleagues-artists helped to survive this grief.
