"Why should I respect them ?!" - the teenager asks passionately, driven by resentment or disappointment. Nevertheless, respect for the representatives of the older generation is an integral part of the culture of various peoples, sometimes completely different in their customs and beliefs.
Life start
No matter how inclined the representatives of the younger generation may be to deny the merits of the elders, one cannot but admit that it is the previous generation that creates the basis for the subsequent ones. These are material values, and the cultural environment, and traditions preserved and augmented by representatives of the older generation.
It happens that children are dissatisfied with the achievements of their parents and are inclined to reproach them for the fact that they worked in the wrong place and in the wrong way, could not reach the standard of living that children consider themselves worthy. But this is wrong! The older generations lived their lives as they saw fit and possible, provided their children with a certain "launching pad" for development, learning, character formation and other personal qualities.
Even if a young man at an early age is able to earn more than his father or mother, then the opportunities for this were largely provided to him by his parents, and this is worthy of respect.
Likewise, statements by young people about the existing social system and the economic and political situation of the country as a whole are unfair. The older generation acted as best they could in the proposed historical circumstances, and without their efforts there would be no "starting point" for the activities of subsequent generations. And for this it is worth respecting people who were born 20, 40 or more years earlier!
Experience
They say that the smart learn from the mistakes of others, and the stupid learn from their own. Morals and admonitions, which young people are inclined to brush aside, are most often nothing more than an attempt by the older generation to pass on their life experience to children.
Yes, the realities of their lives differed in many respects from the present, and now “other times” have come, but human nature has changed very little over the millennia. So why not listen to the conclusions drawn by fathers and mothers and grandparents based on their personal experiences? After all, no matter how the realities of life change, love remains love, and enmity remains enmity. A person is driven by all the same weaknesses, passions and aspirations as many years ago: everyone wants stability, love and peace.
People who have lived for several decades already know how to recognize the signs by which they can easily identify treason and betrayal, to distinguish true feelings from hypocrisy. They have learned from their own experience what this or that sequence of actions can lead to. Therefore, young people, perhaps, should not strive to fill their own bumps with such persistence. After all, you can try to avoid trouble by showing respect and attention to the experience of previous generations.
