For tens of years, an anti-religious and anti-church policy was carried out in Russia, new generations were brought up outside of Christian traditions and customs, which were lost over time. With the revival of Orthodoxy, Russians again began to visit churches, get baptized, and get married, but many still feel insecure at the service, although it is enough to know a few rules of conduct in the church.

Instructions

Step 1

As you prepare to go to the temple, think about what you want to say to God, what to pray for, and what to repent of.

Step 2

One should dress modestly, cleanly and tidily for service. It is advisable for women to wear a long skirt with a blouse or dress that hides the shoulders, chest and legs above the knees, and cover their head with a scarf. Make-up should be minimal, and it is better not to paint your lips. Men are required to wear trousers and a shirt, shorts and T-shirts are not allowed, and a headdress must be removed at the entrance to the temple.

Step 3

To light candles, submit notes, pray at the images of the saints, come to the church in advance, 15-20 minutes before the start of the service. At the entrance to the temple, cross your right hand three times and bow. Disconnect your mobile phone, get rid of extraneous thoughts.

Step 4

Upon entering the church, submit notes about the health and repose of relatives, friends, acquaintances. Put candles: for peace - on the eve with a small crucifix, which differs from others in a rectangular shape, and for health - on any candlestick. Attach to the images of the saints, touching the lower part of the icon with your lips.

Step 5

Try to sit in a place where you can see and hear everything. If it is hard to stand during the entire service, sit down for a while on the bench, but be sure to stand up when the royal doors are opened and while reading the Gospel. Don't turn your back on the altar.

Step 6

During the service, do not look around, do not look at the parishioners, do not talk, do not be distracted from prayers and chants. You cannot walk around the temple, pass candles. If you come to the temple with children, explain to them to be quiet and not make noise or run.

Step 7

When priests overshadow with a cross, the Gospel, a holy cup or image, cross yourself and bow your head, and when overshadowed by the sign of the cross, censer or candles, you only need to bow. When praising the Holy Trinity or Jesus, at the beginning and at the end of each prayer, as well as with the words “Lord, have mercy” and “Give, Lord,” one should be baptized.

Step 8

You can memorize the entire order of worship with experience, and if there is none, then just do the same as the others: be baptized, bow down, bow your head, sing, etc.

Step 9

It is advisable to defend the entire service, perceiving it not as a duty, but as a sacrifice to God. If, for some reason, you need to leave before it ends, try to do it so as not to disturb other parishioners.
