He was considered the closest and most loyal associate of Adolf Hitler. One of the most senior leaders of the Nazi party, Paul Joseph Goebbels was in charge of the most important section of the ideological front - he was the main propagandist of Germany, the mouthpiece of the ideas of the demoniac Fuhrer.
From the biography of Goebbels
Paul Joseph Goebbels was born in 1897 in Reidt. The father of the future Nazi was an ordinary accountant. Devout by nature, Goebbels' father hoped very much that his son would choose for himself a career as a clergyman. But the young man dreamed of becoming a journalist or writer. After graduating from the gymnasium course, he began to study the humanities. From 1917 to 1921, Goebbels studied at the universities of Bonn, Cologne and Munich, focusing on history, philosophy and literature.
In 1921, Goebbels defended his dissertation and received his degree. He tried to write, but his writings were repeatedly rejected by publishers.
Due to congenital lameness, Goebbels did not go to fight during the First World War. This hit his pride: Goebbels considered military service an honorable thing. He perceived his physical inferiority painfully.
For the sake of Goebbels, his future wife Magda divorced a Jewish businessman. The family of the main propagandist of the Reich had six children. They all became the favorites of Adolf Hitler. However, it was difficult to call Goebbels the faithful husband. His many connections with actresses were whispered about at every turn.
The mouthpiece of the Nazi party
In 1922, Hitler's future propagandist joined the Nazi party. He idolized Hitler and more than once in his diaries confessed his love for his idol.
In 1926, Hitler appointed Goebbels head of the NSDAP branch in one of the key regions of Germany. It was in this post that his oratorical abilities were revealed. At numerous Nazi demonstrations, Goebbels vilified communists and Jews, attracting the attention of a public, which consisted mainly of the petty bourgeois.
Delighted with the propaganda skills and successes of Goebbels, the Fuehrer appoints him as the head of all imperial propaganda.
In his activities in this post, Goebbels skillfully used the techniques of psychological influence on people. For him, there were no moral principles and moral standards. Under Goebbels' leadership, books were burned in German universities.
Herald of war
Since the outbreak of World War II, Goebbels has been fulfilling the task assigned to him by Hitler to raise the morale of the nation. And for the time being he successfully coped with this mission. When Germany was on the verge of destruction, Goebbels remained near the Fuhrer, trying to support him. In his political testament, the Fuehrer appointed Goebbels as his successor as leader of the nation. But the propagandist did not manage to become the head of Germany.
When it became clear that the days of the Reich were numbered, Paul Joseph Goebbels and his wife committed suicide. Magda had previously killed her six children. So ingloriously ended the life and career of a man who for many years was the mouthpiece of the most inhuman political regime.
