Step 1

If you want to join the SJR and you are over eighteen years old, contact his representative in your place of residence. Accordingly, if you live in the capital, take the documents to the Union of Journalists in Moscow, if you are in St. Petersburg - to the St. Petersburg Creative Union of Journalists, etc.

Step 2

Prepare your documents first. You will need an autobiography, a certificate from the place of work or a document confirming your professional activity, 3 photographs of 3x4 cm and 2 recommendations, which must be written by members of the UJR with at least 3 years of experience.

Step 3

Write your application on the prescribed form. Take it to the Secretariat of the Union of Journalists. Do not forget to include a list of your published works with the package of documents.

Step 4

If you are a citizen of a foreign state and carry out journalistic activities on the territory of Russia, you can also count on joining the SJR. Submit the required documents to the structural units at the location or to the secretariat. However, keep in mind that your membership in the SJR will terminate upon the expiration of your employment relationship with your Russian employer.

Step 5

Wait for the decision of the commission. This will take about three months. If everything is in order, after this period the secretariat will issue your membership card. If there are any violations or discrepancies with the requirements of the charter, you will be denied a ticket.
