Alexander was born in Mariupol in May 1886. Father's name was Semyon, and mother's name was Maria. At birth, the boy had the surname Zuckerman, later he changed it to the Russian manner, as he lived in the Russian Empire.

His parents, husband and wife Zuckerman, gave the boy a good education. The young man was assigned to the Imperial Academy of Arts. Then Alexander Semyonovich, improving his talent and skill, in 1903 went to Paris and entered the Academy of Juliano.

This is a private educational institution, in which the most famous masters and members of the jury of the Paris Salon gave lessons. Founded the Academy of Arts by Rodolfo Juliano. Alexander Semyonovich in France met Sarah Bernhardt and at one time assisted her.

In 1904 Sakharov went to Munich. Here he studied acrobatics and dancing at specialized courses. A creatively gifted person made friends in this city with Russian artists, and after 5 years he was admitted to the Art Association of the city of Munich.

The famous artist Wassily Kandinsky became a loyal friend of Alexander Zuckerman in Germany for many years. He was a great Russian artist who is one of the founders of abstract art.

This movement originated at the very beginning of the 20th century and called for the dance to be more vital. Later, modern dance, contact improvisation, butoh, contemporary dance were formed on these principles.

Contemporaries had the good fortune to enjoy the choreography of Zuckerman, in which he reproduced paintings and mythological subjects of the Renaissance.

Personal life

In 1919, Alexander Semyonovich married Clotilde von Derp. The girl shared the beliefs of her beloved, she was a dancer. Husband and wife founded a new kind of dance called abstract pantomime. Zuckerman worked independently, even creating designs for his costumes.

In 1922 he made his choreography debut in London, when the dancer became world famous. When fascism began to intensify in some countries, Zuckerman emigrated with his wife to South America. This was in 1940.

And in 1949, the couple moved to Italy. Here Alexander Semyonovich worked as a teacher of choreography, in 1952 his dance school was opened.

But a talented creative person did not give up painting either. In the mid-sixties, he opened his exhibition at the Gallery of the city of Rome.

When he was gone, the talented choreographer was buried in the cemetery of artists and poets in September 1963. And two years later, an exhibition dedicated to the renowned artist was held at the Paris Opera Museum.
