Biography
In 1962, Alexey Likhachev was born in the closed city of Arzamas-75. On the maps the city was listed as Sarov, in the documentation it had many names - Gorky-130, Arzamas-16 and others. In 1946, it housed a secret Design Bureau, whose main activity was the nuclear and atomic sphere. The atmosphere of the city of childhood undoubtedly played a role in determining the future profession of Alexei.
The Likhachev family was classic by Soviet standards - the father was an engineer, the mother was a teacher. At school, Alexei had to “study for 6 to get 5”, since his mother was his class teacher. However, his mother's adherence to principles only benefited Alexei - he graduated from high school with a gold medal, which was considered honorable in Soviet times.
After leaving school, Likhachev entered the radio engineering faculty at the University. N. Lobachevsky. After receiving higher education, he worked for two years at the Gorky Research Institute. He got here through the distribution practice widespread at that time and mastered instrument making. Alexey was distinguished by responsibility and initiative, so his career was developing actively. In 1987, he became the secretary of the Komsomol committee at his institute.
Until the end of the perestroika period, Alexei Likhachev climbed the ladder of an active Komsomol worker. In 1988-1992, he served as secretary of the city committee. In the same period, he met S. Kiriyenko, with whom he would meet more than once in the future.
The collapse of the Soviet Union spurred Likhachev to organize his own company. It was the social-industrial insurance company "Aval". Such work made it clear that it was necessary to get an economic education, which Likhachev did until 1998, choosing his native Gorky State University. Here he defended his candidate, and then doctoral.
Aval functioned successfully until 2000, which allowed Likhachev to acquire the skills of a statesman. For some time he was an adviser to the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the field of investment and insurance.
Work in government
Since 1993, a new stage begins for Likhachev - he tried to enter the State Duma. The first attempt failed, but the enthusiasm did not diminish. Three years later, Alexei Likhachev achieves a significant position in the city - he is a deputy of the City Duma, one of the directors of the Bank "Guarantee", an insurance company manager.
In 2000, he manages to gain the necessary votes to be elected to the State Duma. He is engaged in this activity until 2007. Deals with the issues of economics, entrepreneurship, tourism.
Then during the year (2007-2008) he was an advisor to the Ministry of Economic Development. From 2008 to 2016, in the same ministry, he solved various tasks - from the director of the Department for Analysis and Regulation in Foreign Economic Affairs to the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development.
From the side, Likhachev's career in the political arena looks very successful. But he himself does not consider himself a politician and claims that first of all he is an economist.
Likhachev, despite the position held, is listed in the lists of the professors of his native university - NNSU. Lobachevsky.
Rosatom
In the fall of 2016, A. Likhachev replaced his longtime acquaintance Sergei Kirienko as head of Rosatom. The company is a significant player on the world stage. Among the priorities are scientific developments, which are trying to implement in all sectors of the modern economy.
The holding officially numbers over 360 enterprises, the scope of their activities includes:
- nuclear energy;
- practical work in the field of energy, including recycling and disposal of waste;
- nuclear reactors and everything connected with them (design, construction, maintenance, etc.);
- civil nuclear icebreaker fleet.
Restrictions of some Western companies in relation to Russia had little effect on the activities of Rosatom. First of all, because the Asian market is currently a priority - the order book in this profile numbers more than 40 countries.
Family and personal life
Alexey Likhachev is married and has three children (all sons). His family still lives in Nizhny Novgorod. Wife Nadezhda Vladimirovna previously had something to do with the industry in which her husband works. She began her career at OKBM im. Afrikantov, which is now part of the Rosatom holding. He is also a co-owner of the Aval company, which provides services in the field of real estate transactions.
The sons of Alexei Evgenievich are already quite adult and successful people. The senior is an employee of Gidromash. The youngest was educated at the Higher School of Economics.
Interesting Facts
Alexey Likhachev earned his first money in the eighth grade. During the summer holidays, all the classmates worked part-time on the school grounds and earned about 200 rubles. All together decided to buy an electric guitar, which later could be played by all interested students.
Likhachev is very fond of informal casual clothes. But on duty, it is not often necessary to wear informal jackets, turtlenecks and jeans.
