Repentance, or confession, is one of the Christian Sacraments. By doing it, the one who repents for his sins before the priest delivers his soul from this heavy burden.
Instructions
Step 1
Confession can be started at any time, but it is generally accepted that confession should be performed before the sacrament. You should carefully prepare for this Sacrament: thoughtfully and carefully analyze your whole life, noting at the same time what you need to repent of in confession to a clergyman. Tune your heart and soul to repentance.
Step 2
Remember that confession is not a conversation, here it is worth talking exclusively about your sins and asking the Lord for forgiveness for your sins for yours. In no case do not try to condemn others and whitewash yourself in any deeds. Enter confession only after preliminary reconciliation with everyone who once offended you or holds a grudge against you. If it is practically impossible to do this for some reason, sincerely reconcile in your heart. Coming to confession without being reconciled is a mortal sin.
Step 3
Do not be confused by the weight of your sins, for there are no unforgivable sins, except unrepentant and unconfessed ones. After all, holy Christian people, who once were terrible sinners, having repented, received forgiveness from God and ascended to a high level of holiness. A priest, on the other hand, during confession of even the most disgusting and grave sins, should not have a bad feeling towards the confessing.
Step 4
The main thing is not to be embarrassed and do not be afraid of anything. Your ignorance of some church rituals is not at all an obstacle in your relationship with God. He sees how and why you came to him and will certainly accept yours, even if an artless prayer. Three days before repentance and communion, start fasting, read prayers.
Step 5
If the priest, for some reason, is not able to listen to you in detail and simply asked: "Do you repent of your sins?" Respond with heartfelt contrition and sincerely, "I repent." The priest will immediately read the prayer of permission. You can not be embarrassed by the brevity of the confession, because the grace of God has cleansed your soul, and the Sacrament has been fulfilled in full. If any sin lies like a stone on your soul and does not give rest, ask the priest to listen to you fully and help cleanse you of the heavy burden.
