Re-issuance of a passport according to the procedure practically does not differ from its usual registration. However, this process has its own difficulties and peculiar "pitfalls", which often become an obstacle to passport renewal.

How to reissue a passport

It is necessary

  • - a photocopy of an ordinary passport and work book (last 10 years of work);
  • - 4 photos (for biometric - 2);
  • - a photocopy of the first page of the old passport;
  • - military ID and certificate No. 32 from the military registration and enlistment office, or a certificate of registration (for men of draft age);
  • - photocopy of registration;
  • - application for keeping the old passport;
  • - a questionnaire (for issuing a biometric passport).

Instructions

Step 1

If the passport is replaced due to damage or loss, then first you need to get a certificate of the appropriate sample by contacting the police or consulate (if the document was lost abroad, you will need to issue an additional certificate of return).

Step 2

Next, you need to collect all the necessary documents and fill out a questionnaire. If the passport has not been found, then in paragraph 16 of the application you need to indicate the series and number of the document, as well as sign the required status (“lost”). When replacing the passport with a new one, the applicant must submit the old document so that it can be canceled. In this case, in the application, under the same paragraph number 16, you must indicate in the note "will be handed over". If the passport was damaged, then it will also need to be returned as at the end of the expiration date. If the reason for replacing the passport is a change of surname, then you will additionally need to present a marriage or divorce certificate.

Step 3

Then you must also come to the FMS at the place of residence and give all the collected and completed documents. Further processing in terms of time is no different from the usual receipt of a passport (about 1 month, sometimes more). The issuance period depends on how quickly the verification of the submitted data by the CAB, FSB and ATC departments will pass. The passport can be replaced and obtained as soon as possible (within no more than 3 working days) if there are grounds for urgent re-issuance (serious illness or death of a close relative, which requires leaving the territory of the Russian Federation).
