The awarding of the Veteran of Labor medal was first established in 1974. The title was awarded to workers in various fields of activity (education, health care, employees of state institutions, public organizations) for honest and conscientious work and for length of service for the appointment of a pension. Currently, more than 15 million people have been awarded the medal. Having a Labor Veteran certificate allows you to enjoy a number of social benefits.

Instructions
Step 1
If you are eligible for the Veteran of Labor Medal, collect all the necessary documents to prove your employment. For the award of a state award, you can provide both the originals of certification documents and copies certified by the social protection authority.
Step 2
Apply with the application to the branch of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation at your place of residence. The application will be sent within 10 days for consideration to the executive authority of the constituent entity of the Russian Federation. In this case, persons who have medals of honor, titles and orders must confirm the award. Citizens applying for the title and having departmental insignia must also provide a work book to confirm the length of service. Individuals without distinctive awards may also qualify for the title of Veteran of Labor if their continuous work experience is 35 years for women and 40 years for men.
Step 3
Upon receipt of a positive decision of the executive authority of the Russian Federation, you will receive a medal and a certificate of a labor veteran. The refusal to issue a medal is also announced in a notification within 15 working days, explaining the reasons for such a decision.
Step 4
After being awarded the medal and the title of labor veteran, use your right to receive benefits provided by the state, namely: free travel on city and suburban rail transport, benefits for housing and communal services, free sanatorium services, if there is a medical indication. However, local authorities in certain regions of the Russian Federation canceled the previously valid benefits for veterans due to existing funding problems. Therefore, contact your local social welfare office to find out directly what benefits are available for your area.
