The compulsory medical insurance policy (MHI) allows anyone to receive immediate or routine medical care free of charge throughout the Russian Federation. This happens by financing the activities of doctors from the compulsory health insurance funds. An expired compulsory medical insurance policy is considered invalid and requires an urgent extension.
Instructions
Step 1
Contact a Human Resources Specialist at your place of work (if you work). Bring your expired compulsory medical insurance policy and passport. You will be asked to write a statement asking for a document exchange. After a short period of time, you will be given an extended policy.
Step 2
If you are unemployed, retired, or a student, write an application to renew your policy to your local administration. Although usually the social security or pension fund deals with the replacement of compulsory medical insurance policies for pensioners, and the policy itself is brought to the person at home along with the pension. Schoolchildren and students also, in most cases, change their medical policy at the place of study.
Step 3
Extend your compulsory health insurance policy by contacting the insurance company or a branch of a company that provides you with compulsory health insurance services directly. Such offices have a specific working schedule with special opening hours for working citizens and separate hours for unemployed people. Take with you your passport, work book (if you work), policy that needs to be renewed.
Step 4
Use the services of a local employment center (if you are registered as unemployed) to facilitate the exchange of a medical policy. Write the relevant application and submit the necessary documents (passport, policy).
Step 5
Contact the dean's office if you are a student and you cannot change your policy in any other way. Provide the person in charge with your documents: passport, student ID, renewal policy.
Step 6
Social security will help you if you are a disabled person receiving an appropriate pension. Submit your policy, certificate of disability and your passport.
Step 7
Go to the official website of your health insurance company (if there is one). Some of these companies provide the opportunity to renew the OMI policy without visiting the office directly. You will need to fill out the appropriate form on the website and send the scanned documents to the company's email address. The compulsory medical insurance policy will be delivered to you by courier, or you can get it at the office.
