Types and tasks of social insurance

Compulsory insurance mainly applies to the active population. The most important tasks of insurance are: the creation of funds and the equalization of the financial situation between the population who are employed at work and those who do not work. We can say that this is a kind of protection of citizens, including dependents, from a lack of money due to disability. The latter may be associated with illness, disability, old age, the period of pregnancy and raising a child, etc.

In the Russian Federation, compulsory social insurance is divided into several types: insurance in case of illness, in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, against an accident, compulsory medical insurance, compulsory pension insurance and in the event of the death of the insured citizen. There are 3 funds: a pension fund, a compulsory medical insurance fund and a social insurance fund.

It should be noted that they all have their own funds and do not depend on the state budget. They receive money from insurance premiums, which the policyholders themselves transfer to funds. Thus, the protection of the interests of citizens is ensured.

Characteristics of the main types of social insurance

Today, special attention is paid to the support of citizens who have temporarily lost the ability to work due to circumstances beyond their control. This group also includes pregnant women, young mothers with children under the age of one and a half years. Acquired occupational diseases, such as silicosis, bronchial asthma, are fully paid from the state budget.

Compulsory medical insurance and pension insurance also play an important role. The compulsory medical insurance provides for the receipt of free medical care in the amount prescribed by law. Every month, all working people are credited with money in their retirement account, which after retirement will be paid in the form of benefits.

Particularly noteworthy is the payment of benefits in the event of death or accident at work. At the same time, close relatives of the deceased receive financial assistance.

As a result of all this, it can be argued that compulsory social insurance in Russia is a program that is designed to provide financial support to the needy categories of the country's population. This ensures the equality of all citizens of the country and their social protection.
