Step 1
Today in Russia there are two types of health insurance - compulsory and voluntary. Voluntary medical insurance policy (VHI) in most cases is issued by employers - this is a fairly popular way to “enhance the social package”. But even in this case, you must have a compulsory insurance policy - after all, only those medical organizations with which the insurance company has a contract with which the insurance company has an agreement work on VHI, and the compulsory medical insurance policy guarantees you receiving medical care throughout the country.
Step 2
In the event that you are officially registered for work, your employer must issue a compulsory health insurance policy for you. By law, the policy must be issued in the first days after you are hired. As a rule, the personnel department deals with the preparation of such documents in the insurance company. Upon dismissal, you must pass the compulsory medical insurance policy - and get a new one at the place of new employment.
Step 3
If you do not work, you can get a medical insurance policy of compulsory insurance at the polyclinic at the place of registration. To obtain insurance, it is enough to present documents confirming that at the place of residence you are "assigned" to this particular medical institution. It can be a registration stamp or a temporary registration certificate.
Step 4
The compulsory medical insurance policy is issued free of charge. But, if you lose your insurance certificate, you will have to pay for a duplicate.
