All issues related to the acquisition, restoration and loss of citizenship of the Republic of Belarus are regulated by Decree No. 755, which entered into force in December 2006. You can become a full citizen of Belarus either by birth or by registration. In this article, we will tell you who can apply for Belarusian citizenship and what documents are required for this.
Instructions
Step 1
So, a child becomes a citizen of the Republic of Belarus by birth if one or both of his parents have Belarusian citizenship. Unlike the laws of other countries, a child receives citizenship regardless of the country of birth or place of residence of the parents. In addition, the granting of citizenship does not require the written consent of the second parent. An application for obtaining Belarusian citizenship by birth is completed by the child's parent. By law, an application can be considered for up to 1 year, however, in reality, a decision is usually made in 2-3 months.
Step 2
The naturalization process for obtaining Belarusian citizenship is greatly simplified. In order to become a full citizen of this country, you need to prove that you have been living in Belarus for at least 7 years. Absent from the country is allowed for a period not exceeding 3 months a year. In addition, you will need to provide a document proving that you are not a citizen (national) of any other country. When submitting documents, you also need to show that you have a stable source of income in the country (for this, it is enough to present a certificate of salary from the place of work).
Step 3
Candidates whose ancestors lived in the territory of Belarus, or they themselves were born in this country, have high chances of obtaining Belarusian citizenship. The presence of minor children with a person who has Belarusian citizenship is also a significant plus when considering your application. In addition to all of the above documents, you also need to provide the consulate with a completed application form, 4 photographs, a birth certificate and a document confirming the payment of the consular fee.
