People's Artist of the Soviet Union Eduard Savelievich Kolmanovsky was born on December 9, 1923. The family lived in the city of Mogilev. My father worked as a doctor. Mother was engaged in housekeeping. The boy from young nails demonstrated musical abilities. The house had an accordion and a guitar. The parents noticed this in a timely manner and enrolled the child in a music school. When Edik was 15 years old, the future composer entered the famous Gnessin School, which is located in Moscow.
In the summer of 1941, the war began, but Kolmanovsky was not taken into the army due to poor health. For four years he studied composition at the Moscow Conservatory. Evacuated together with the staff of the educational institution, he lived for a year and a half in the Siberian city of Omsk. Already in his student years, Eduard wrote several romances based on poems by Alexander Pushkin and Robert Burns, which were performed by famous Soviet singers. In 1945, a certified composer came to work in the music editorial office of the All-Union Radio.
Professional activity
During the years of his work on the radio, Kolmanovsky composes chamber and symphonic works, plays for a variety orchestra. He works closely with famous poets and writes songs. In the mid-1950s, the radio sounded "Silence" to the words of Vladimir Orlov, and "I love you life" to the words of Konstantin Vanshenkin. These songs brought the composer all-Union fame. In the early 60s, a song titled "Do the Russians Want War" sounded on the air. Kolmanovsky wrote it on the verses of the poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko, already well-known at that time. In fact, it was a manifesto of the Soviet people about their peace-loving policy.

Until the end of his life, he remained alone. Kolmanovsky died in July 1994.
