Honored Master of Sports of the USSR and Russia - Lyubov Egorova - is a six-time Olympic champion and three-time world champion in various disciplines. She was recognized as the best sportswoman in our country in 1994.
Currently, Lyubov Egorova is a member of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg from the "United Russia". At the end of 2016, a scandalous situation flared up around her person around the income statement. According to the media, she hid the proceeds from the sale of real estate located in Finland.
The subject of the proceedings - real estate acquired in 2011 and re-registered to the ex-wife of Igor Sysoev - was valued at 55,000 euros. However, in 2014, the award-winning skier sold this property to Finnish citizens by proxy for 145,000 euros. It is strange that the owner says that he is completely unaware of this. That is, the sale of Igor Sysoev's property took place without his knowledge and with complete illegality of the documentary support.
Brief biography of Lyubov Egorova
On May 5, 1966, the future sports pride of the country was born in the city of Tomsk-7 (now Seversk). Since childhood, the girl was very thin, so she was not even taken to the ballet group from the choreographic circle, where she went during her high school studies. However, she became actively involved in skiing, participating in serious competitions.
After receiving a certificate of secondary education, Lyubov entered the Pedagogical Institute in Tomsk, where she received her education in the specialization of "physical education". And in 1986, a significant event happened - Egorova was able to break into the national team of the country. The beginner skier moved to Leningrad and in 1988 transferred to the Herzen Pedagogical Institute.
Professional career of an athlete
In 1984, the athlete's real ski career debuted when she became a member of the KM. And after five years, she confidently entered the TOP-10 of the country. The 10 km stage in Val di Fiemme became “silver” for her. And a year later she was the first in the marathon and in the individual World Cup race. At this time, she was recognized as the third among the world's skiers.
And in 1992, when Lyubov Egorova had already become a five-time winner of the KM, she became a participant in the Olympics in Albertville (France). Here she stood on the podium in all disciplines, and gold medals were awarded to her for the 15 km, 10 km race and the relay.
1992-1993 season became for Lyubov the next stage of climbing in a sports career. She outstripped her principal rival Vyalbe, becoming the winner of the WC. Egorova again becomes the leader of the Russian national team and goes to the first Olympics in the history of the Olympic Games, which began to be held two years later, relative to the summer. This time she manages to get four titles (3 "gold" and 1 "silver"). And at the end of the season, she becomes the second.
In 1995, for family reasons, Yegorova misses the next season, but soon returns to the track and triumphantly performs at the KM, where she becomes the owner of four gold medals. 1996-1997 season she also goes to the World Cup as the leader of the national team. And here, three days after the main title at a distance of 5 km, she is suspended for two years from participation in ski competitions due to a doping scandal.
These terrible events had a very serious impact on the professional activities of Lyubov Egorova. She later tried to return to the podium of the world ski elite, but the subsequent Olympics in Salt Lake City crowned her with only fifth place in the 15 km standings. And the next season did not allow her to achieve any significant results at all. And in 2003, the titled athlete announced the end of her sports career.
After leaving the big sport, Lyubov Egorova began to engage in teaching at the Institute. Lesgaft, where she defended her thesis and became vice-rector. Simultaneously with scientific and pedagogical work, she began to actively engage in social and political activities.
Since 2007, she began to be a member of the Legislative Assembly of the city on the Neva, first from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, and later from United Russia.
Personal life
After moving to the northern capital, Lyubov Yegorova almost immediately married biathlete Igor Sysoev. This family-sports union was the reason for the birth of a son, Victor, in 1995. And already at the age of forty, she gave birth to her second son, Alexei.
It is interesting that in 2003 the couple broke off official relations, and two years later got back together, but already in the status of a "civil marriage", in which the couple lived for another nine years.
