Gordon Ramsay was born in Johnston in 1966. As a child, his family moved frequently. Ramsay writes in his autobiography that his childhood was difficult because of his alcoholic father. A difficult relationship with his father became the reason that at the age of 16, Gordon began to live separately.

As a child, the future chef was seriously involved in football. His sports career was accompanied by constant injuries. Due to one of these injuries, Ramsay was forced to interrupt his football career. By this time, he was already seriously interested in cooking, and having considered all the options, he decided to study the hotel business.

After graduating from college, Ramsay worked as an assistant chef, changed several restaurants and eventually moved to London. After two years at Harvey’s, Gordon decided to study French cuisine and took a job at a renowned French restaurant in London. A year later, Ramsay moved to France and then became a personal chef on a yacht in Bermuda.

Upon his return to London in 1993, Ramsay was invited to the position of chef at the famous La Tante Claire restaurant. Shortly thereafter, Ramsay became the chef and owner of a stake in the Eggplant Restaurant, which received its first Michelin star a few months later. In 1997, "Eggplant" received a second Michelin star. Despite the success of the restaurant, Gordon made the decision to leave the position of chef, dreaming of starting his own business. In 1998, his dream came true - he opened a restaurant called Gordon Ramsay. The restaurant received its third Michelin star in 2001, making Ramsay the first Scottish chef to achieve such a success.

Gordon Ramsay's restaurant empire expanded rapidly. Establishments were opened in Glasgow, Tokyo, New York, Ireland, Los Angeles, Montreal.

Ramzi gained real fame after the release in 2004 of the reality shows "Kitchen Nightmares" and "Hell's Kitchen". In the first TV show, the chef visited restaurants on the brink of crisis, identified their problems and tried to fix the situation for a week. In Hell's Kitchen, several chefs fought for the title of chef at a famous restaurant. The show was distinguished by high emotional tension and an uncomfortable environment, in which Ramsay himself made a significant contribution.

In 2005, Ramsay was offered an American version of Hell's Kitchen. The American version recreated the interiors of the original and emphasized the straightforwardness and hot temper of Gordon Ramsay. The American version of "Kitchen Nightmares" premiered soon after. At the moment, 7 seasons of the successful show have been released.
