Spiridon Mikhailovich Mikhailov was a unique Chuvash ethnographer, historian, translator. During his short life, he managed to create many works that are of great value.

Biography
Spiridon Mikhailovich Mikhailov (Yandush) lived in the 19th century. He was born in the first month of winter 1821 in the town of Yungaposi, Kozmodemyanskiy district.
When the boy was eight years old, he was sent to study literacy in the family of the merchant Mikhailov. So the boy ended up in the city of Kozmodemyansk.
Having learned to read and write, the young man began to work as a clerk in the Board of the Yadrinsky district volost. Then he is taken to the county police to work as a scribe.
Spiridon Mikhailovich perfectly knew not only the Chuvash, but also Russian, Mari languages. Therefore, he was subsequently hired as an interpreter at the Zemsky Court of the city of Kozmodemyansk.
Creation
The famous ethnographer and historian has created many works dedicated to the folklore of the Chuvash, Russian, Mari peoples. He also has work in economics and geography.
Also, the Chuvash writer wrote works of art, among them there are small stories, essays.
The texts that he united under one name "Conversations" became a particularly famous work. The collection's stories are created in the Chuvash language and consist of dialogues from different people. The writer has several works in Russian. Among them are "Sly Cat", "Absorption by the Earth", "Unfortunate Son", "Chuvash Weddings".
Career
A citizen of Chuvashia, who received a good education at that time, created not only many publicistic works, but was also able to cooperate with magazines and newspapers. Among them are such publications as:

- "Russian Diary";
- "Russian disabled";
- "Bee".
Spiridon Mikhailovich also collaborated with the Geographical Society. For the contribution he made to literary and research activities, this organization awarded Mikhailov a silver medal. For outstanding services and fruitful work, he was awarded the same award by the Kozmodemyanskiy Zemstvo Court.

Spiridon Mikhailovich also created an autobiography. Reading it, it is interesting to learn that he still knew his ancestor, who lived at the end of the 17th century. And the great-grandfather of the ethnographer worked under Catherine II. He was an attorney for earth affairs. This man's last name was Yandush. Therefore, often, indicating the name of the ethnographer, they write - Spiridon Mikhailovich Mikhailov (Yandush).
Even in his biography, the historian says that great-grandfather and grandfather kept hives and his father had many bees. Learning about Mikhailov's family, we understand that he had two more brothers. Many said that in infancy, Spiridon was very beautiful. The merchant Mikheev liked him so much that he wanted to take a boy for training, who became his named son. And the merchant had only two daughters.
Spiridon Mikhailovich lived for only 39 years. But during this time he managed to create unique works, on the basis of which the collection "Collected Works" was later compiled. It was published in 2004.
