Roman Polkovnikov is the leading soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater. He has been faithful to his stage since 2005. Since then, a significant part of the theater's repertoire has been based on him, and he has been performing the part of Spartacus without a backup cast for more than 10 years.
Biography: early years
Roman Yurievich Polkovnikov was born on January 25, 1987 in Kemerovo. His father was a military man, so the family often changed the city of residence. Roman began dancing at the age of 11. So that the son did not mess around, his parents enrolled him in a children's art school, which was located near their rented apartment.
Roman had good physical characteristics and natural plasticity. Soon, the head of the dance club offered him individual lessons. Roman began to train hard under the guidance of an experienced teacher. Thanks to this, he became even more imbued with the love of dancing.
After school, on the recommendation of the same head of the circle, Polkovnikov moved to Novosibirsk. He passed the entrance exams without any problems, becoming a student of the choreographic school.
Career
In 2005, Roman was invited to join the troupe of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater. At first he performed in the corps de ballet. His debut performance was a polonaise in the opera Eugene Onegin. The very next year, Polkovnikov went on his first overseas tour to England. Soon he became the winner of the All-Russian competition of ballet dancers.
In 2007, Polkovnikov was transferred from the corps de ballet to the main troupe of the theater. He made his debut in the production of "Spartacus", where he got the main role. Polkovnikov performed it brilliantly and received rave reviews from both viewers and critics. The latter noted that Roman possesses a frenzied male charisma, excellently "cut and sewn". Later they began to call him the best Spartacus of the theater.
Polkovnikov has repeatedly participated in the famous Golden Mask festival, which traditionally takes place annually on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. Roman toured many countries of the world, including South Korea, Spain, China, India, France.
Polkovnikov was among the representatives from Russia at the closing ceremony of the Olympics in Vancouver. This is usually awarded to the country's eminent personalities.
Roman has several diplomas and medals on his account. So, he has the "gold" of the Delphic Games in the category "Classical dance". The competition is analogous to the Olympics, only the participants are people of art.
Personal life
There is little information about Roman Polkovnikov's personal life. There is not a single high-profile novel behind him. Also, the dancer does not publish photos with girls on his pages in social networks. In one of the interviews, he stated about his unwillingness to mix creativity and personal life. Probably for this reason Polkovnikov so carefully protects people close to him from the eyes of the public.
