The automatic weapons of the Russian army are constantly being improved. The Russian army possesses a number of unique types of weapons developed by our Soviet designers. The tranquility of Russia depends on the armament of our army.
In recent years, arming our army with promising automatic weapons has become one of the main topics. The Department of Defense is taking the steps necessary to determine the most suitable design.
The history of the creation of automatic weapons in Russia
Automatic weapons were not invented until the 19th century. Its action is based on the use of the power of powder gases for reloading and the implementation of a new shot. The first weapon in Russia was the Maxim machine gun. It was developed in 1905 at the Tula arms factory. Its main drawback was its excessive weight. In the future, it was slightly improved.
At the same time, the designer Fedorov is working on converting the 1891 rifle into an automatic weapon. However, this experience was unsuccessful. And in 1906 an automatic rifle with a caliber of 7, 63 mm was created. By 1913 it was improved with a new cartridge caliber 6, 5 mm.
In 1916, Fedorov invents an assault rifle, the principle of which became fundamental for the armament of the Russian army. In countries such as the United States and Germany, work was also underway to create machines. But the birthplace of this type of weapon should rightfully be called Russia.
The main automatic weapon of the Russian army
To date, the automatic weapons of Russia are presented quite diversely.
Of course, this is the world-renowned Kalashnikov assault rifle. It was created during the Great Patriotic War and was put into service in 1947. The main advantage of this weapon is its simplicity of design and exceptional reliability. It is in service with 50 countries.
The Kalashnikov assault rifle is represented by the AK-102, AK-105, AK-107, AK-108 models. AK-102 completely repeats AK-105, but it was designed for bullets of caliber 55.6 mm. AK-107 and AK-108 are the most advanced models of this assault rifle. Their main difference from the first models is balanced automation.
The APS automatic machine also has no analogues in the world. Its main advantage is its use underwater. Special elongated bullets are suitable for it, capable of penetrating the protection of a wetsuit and 6 mm glass.
The M16 rifle is also in service with the Russian army. Due to its design, it is very sensitive to dirt and sand. The receiver of the rifle is made of aluminum alloy, so it easily cracks when struck against any solid object.
The Whirlwind assault rifle is a small-sized automatic weapon. In terms of its qualities, it competes only with various modifications of the Kalashnikov assault rifle and foreign counterparts. The hitting range is 200 meters. Capable of punching 6mm steel sheet. Has a folding sight.
Still no less important is the "Val" assault rifle, which is close in its modification to a sniper rifle. It has a silent bullet. Has a ribbed surface and excellent shooting accuracy.
At the moment, developments are underway to create a new, more advanced and suitable automatic weapon for the Russian army. After all, the security of our country depends on how our army is armed.
