In one of his poems, Boris Pasternak says that being famous is ugly. “This is not what raises upward,” the poet explains and suggests looking for the purpose of creativity in self-giving. But not all authors are able to write on the table. They need a living reader, a lively reaction to their work, without this they cannot develop as artists, as creators. It is these people who have to puzzle over how to release their own collection of poems.
Instructions
Step 1
First, collect the material that you would like to publish. Usually, works in poetry collections are grouped according to one or another criterion - by topic, date of writing, style, etc. Of course, this is only if you have a lot of works. If there is nothing of them all, just typed on a thin collection, then take everything at once.
Step 2
What exactly do you want? To have your collection show off on the shelves of bookstores, or to have the cherished book in the home library of your parents and a few friends? If the second option is enough for you, then just typeset the collection on a computer in one of the programs (for example, Scribus or PageMaking) and print it on a printer (if the volumes are very small) or on a risograph.
Step 3
If you agree not only to publish an author's collection, but also to participate in a collective one, then you can cooperate with other authors - then publishing a book in a publishing house will cost you much less. There is another option - to take part in the creation of almanacs of the site "Poems." From time to time, the editors of the site offer authors a place to publish in the almanac for a certain amount. For the same purpose, you can participate in one of the literary competitions. Sometimes, as a prize, the winning poems are published in special collections. You can follow literary contests on the site "All contests" or on the site of the magazine "Lamp and Chimney".
Step 4
Try to publish an electronic collection of poetry. This does not require any costs from you, and it will be much easier to distribute such a collection. Of course, you won't be able to look through it on a gray rainy evening, sitting in an armchair and covered with a blanket, but what a saving of effort, time and money! (However, modern technologies allow you to "flip" pages lying on the couch using miniature video players and electronic books).
Step 5
Just come to any private publishing house, pay the indicated amount, and for your money the publishers will fulfill your every whim. The cost of the service will vary depending on the volume of work and the number of copies.
Step 6
There is another way - make your way with your talent. If your work really deserves everyone's attention, then by publishing on the Internet, participating in competitions and in poetry evenings, sooner or later you will find sponsors who will pay all the costs of publishing your poetry collections.
