Critics considered Tom Clancy to be a master of dialogue. But his literary success was largely determined by the genre chosen by the writer. Clancy was well versed in the technique, descriptions of which abound in his books. However, deviations from the adventure plot in the direction of technology not only did not make the story boring, but even more twisted the intrigue, keeping the reader in suspense until the last moment.
