Childhood and youth
The son of a simple working-class family, V. Dumsky was born in pre-war Leningrad on January 23, 1938. In May 1941, when the war was already inevitable, the Dumsky family moved to the village, where they spent all the war years, where the son went to school.
From an early age, Vladimir was fond of reading, by the age of six he read fluently and even helped teachers to teach lessons. After the war, the Dumskys returned to Leningrad, where Vladimir continued his school education and went through all the books in the libraries of the Petrograd district. In the seventh grade, he became seriously interested in poetry, and the then banned Sergei Yesenin became his favorite.
After school, Vladimir Dumsky entered the Leningrad Power Engineering School, then served his due time in the Red Army and returned home to enter the M. A. Bonch-Bruyevich Institute of Communications, after which he worked for a long time as an engineer, setting up his personal life and studying his favorite poetry. Then he had to write "on the table", but admirers of his poetry copied them by hand and gave them to their friends.
Career
Writing biography for Dumsky began in 1990, when all Soviet censorship sank into oblivion. Then the publishing house "Smart" published his first book of poems entitled "Yesterday", then several more collections of the poet were published: the famous "Farewell to the USSR" (2009), containing an interesting study of Russian symbolism, "Not rhymes among …" (2016) and others, seven in total.
Dumsky's works were published in almanacs and magazines, he co-authored the 2018 book “Hypnosis as Life. How a Saudi Sheikh hunted in the Far Eastern taiga. Ded Ignat together with Tamara Bulevich and Sergei Archipenko. The book includes poetry and prose by the authors.
In parallel with literary creativity, Vladimir was engaged in his own education. In the medical field, a new profession appeared that interested him - a valeologist, that is, a specialist who professionally deals with issues of a healthy lifestyle. Already an elderly poet, in 1999 he received a diploma of a valeologist at the Higher Spiritual Academy and successfully combines medicine and literature in his life to this day.
Present time
Today Vladimir Dumsky is a full member of the International Union of Writers, a professor at the Derzhavin Academy of Russian Literature. For his poems in the almanac "St. Petersburg - New York" he was awarded an international prize, has many prestigious literary awards.
In 2019, Vladimir Dumsky, a regular guest of St. Gaidar is 81 years old.
