It has been several decades since the village has ceased to be the mainstay of the city. It has become an unpromising and therefore unnecessary appendage, a burden that no one wants to drag on. From time to time there are exclamations that villages in Russia are dying out, and something needs to be done about it, but even sensible ideas break on insurmountable obstacles, which they themselves are erecting.
There are many reasons for the extinction of Russian villages, but they are all interrelated. At the household and social level, we are faced with a total discomfort. Roads are essential for the development of rural infrastructure. After all, it is along the roads that food and household goods are delivered to local stores, and medicines are delivered to pharmacies and hospitals. To deliver materials for new construction, roads are also needed. But it is economically unprofitable to lay a new section from the highway to a village with a population of ten and a half souls. And the inhabitants, deprived of the benefits of civilization, are forced to leave their homes. Accordingly, there is a shortage of manpower and personnel.
The level of culture falls to a critical point. When you have to think about how to survive, it is no longer up to ballet and not to Pushkin. In many villages, especially remote ones, of all the working establishments, only grocery stores remain with a meager assortment, which is replenished every few months. Clubs and other places of organized mass leisure are crammed with boards and quietly rotting. In the absence of any kind of entertainment, there remains only one means of raising the mood - alcohol. And it leads to degradation, domestic crimes and early mortality. In addition, these conditions do not contribute to the improvement of the demographic situation, although previously a large number of children was the norm for a peasant family.
From time to time, attempts are made to revive agriculture and animal husbandry on the previous scale, programs are being developed to involve the younger generation in this industry, and even funds are allocated from the budget. Needless to say, in whose pockets they end up? Or to mention that the purchase prices for agricultural products are several times lower than the market prices? Even an entrepreneur who has the warmest feelings for the village realizes that it is strategically and economically unprofitable to invest capital, labor and time in this area, because this venture is initially unprofitable.
The villages still keep afloat a short distance from the city, but near megalopolises they are also doomed. The problem of overpopulation in large cities is acute in many regions. There are not enough land plots for the construction of residential buildings, so the expansion is taking place at the expense of the villages, where the base for the construction of new buildings is already ready. Some of the villages are turning into a zone of residence of the wealthy part of the population. Of course, there can be no question of fulfilling the functions assigned to the village historically.
