The peoples inhabiting the Caucasus at all times were distinguished by their independent disposition and could not endure even the slightest violence. The poet and politician Zelimkhan Abdulmuslimovich Yandarbiev was born far from those peaks and gorges where his ancestors had lived for centuries. And in a foreign land he passed away.
Events of a historical scale cannot be assessed from an everyday point of view. Natural and civilizational disasters are fundamentally changing the national landscape of the planet. The biography of the Chechen people is full of glorious and dramatic pages. The family of Zelimkhan Yandarbiev ended up in Kazakhstan against their will. And the child with the mother's milk absorbed this pain.
Transforming views
Love for the native land should be instilled from infancy. Otherwise, having matured, a person will experience inner anxiety and discomfort. Zelimkhan Abdulmuslimovich, seventeen years old, returned to the ashes of his ancestors. He returned and did not recognize the places that his relatives and friends told him about. The cognitive state pushed him to creativity and in the depths of his soul ideas and images began to form. In contrast to the current rules, Zelimkhan began to compose poetry in his native language. His work as a proofreader for a local publishing house showed that he needed additional education. And Yandarbiev entered the Chechen-Ingush State University. Later, the young poet was invited to study at the higher literary courses in Moscow.
Work and study did not distract Zelimkhan from creativity, poetry and editorial duties in the children's magazine "Rainbow". Observant, with a tenacious mind, he saw how his people lived, being a small part of a large country. And he did not like this alignment. Sincere and heartfelt verses began to transform into accusatory lines and appeals. Already famous among his fellow countrymen, Yandarbiev openly sided with those forces that called for independence, for separation from the big state. It should be noted that people really did have grounds for dissatisfaction. And not only in the Caucasus, but also in Siberia, and the Baltics, and in other regions.
Poet and terrorist
When a multi-storey building collapses, the death of people is inevitable. The collapse of the Soviet Union was accompanied by numerous casualties. Zelimkhan Yandarbiev's political career was rapid. The poet was one of the people who took responsibility for the life of the Chechen people. Was love for the Motherland or hatred for the "oppressors" behind this decision? It is impossible to answer this question unequivocally. In the war unleashed, every family suffered losses. History shows that for the ideologues of false independence, sacrifices of this magnitude mean nothing. During this period, the poet becomes an active politician and is included in the register of dangerous terrorists.
Throughout his adult life, his wife Malika was next to Zelimkhan. They had two sons and a daughter. Today we can say with good reason that Yandarbiev's personal life has been sacrificed to political ambitions. A caring husband and father has placed service to his land above marital and parental responsibilities. As a human being, I feel sorry for this sincere and, by and large, naive writer. However, one should not forget about those people who have become victims of terrorism. Zelimkhan Yandarbiev was eliminated by the special services. In this case, his youngest son was seriously injured.
