Childhood and youth

Family fortunes are not only made up of bank deposits and real estate. In all civilized countries, they respect ancestors, to those people who lived and acted in bygone periods.

Andrei Fridrikhovich Borodin was born on May 24, 1967 in an elite Soviet family. The parents of the future disgraced banker lived in Moscow. Father, Friedrich Fedorovich, supervised the direction of creating ships for the navy in the structure of the military-industrial complex. Doctor of technical sciences and laureate of the State Prize, he paid great attention to the upbringing of his son. Mother worked as a translator in one of the departments of Intourist.

Paternal grandfather, a Bolshevik with pre-revolutionary experience, he carried out special assignments in the Foreign Trade Department. He regularly visited the People's Republic of China. My uncle, my father's brother, was also a doctor of physical and technical sciences, and headed a laboratory at the Radio Engineering Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The child grew up in prosperity, if not in luxury. All external attributes - jeans, a tape recorder, chewing gum - important for the status of a teenager, Andrei got without the slightest effort. Borodin studied well at school. He took part in public life. He was always sent to interschool Olympiads in mathematics and physics. Andrey did not like noisy companies.

When the time came to choose a profession, Borodin decided to get a higher education at the Moscow Financial Institute at the Department of International Economics and Finance. In 1984, Andrei became a student, and after his second year he was drafted into the ranks of the armed forces. The reason for the call was the absence of a military department at the institute. Of course, it was possible in some way to get rid of the draft. But a descendant of the old Bolshevik considered such behavior beneath his dignity. Borodin served the due date in the border troops. He returned to civilian life with the gratitude of the command and recovered at the institute.

In 1991, Borodin received a degree in finance. He, as a diligent student, was offered to stay in graduate school. Andrei's scientific career quite tripled, but in the conditions of political restructuring, he chose to practice. In the autumn of the same year, on the recommendation of the head of the department, he went on an internship to Germany. The banking system of the Russian Federation was undergoing a global reconstruction, and specialists with foreign experience were required in this area of activity. Borodin was gaining experience at the famous Dresdner Bank.

Professional activity

Beginning in 1994, Borodin served as an advisor to the Moscow Government on financial and economic issues. After a detailed analysis of the current situation, the adviser proposed to the mayor of the capital to establish a special bank to serve the city budget. By this time, settlement transactions between the budget and counterparties were carried out through several commercial structures, which received their commissions for this. The mayor approved the proposal, and the Bank of Moscow appeared in the capital. Over the next fifteen years, this financial and budgetary institution has become one of the largest in Russia.

During the period when Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov worked as the mayor of the capital, the Bank of Moscow was called the “wallet of the Moscow mayor's office”. At the same time, the bank developed as an independent commercial structure, regardless of the relationship with the main shareholder. During this period, the founder and co-owner of the bank, Andrei Borodin, headed the Moscow Insurance Company. Head of the Department of the Moscow International University. The Order of Friendship and the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, second degree, are evaluating Borodin's creativity and pragmatic approach to fulfilling his duties.

Departure abroad

The attitude of the authorities to the "Bank of Moscow" changed in the fall of 2010, after the mayor of the capital, Yuri Luzhkov, left his post. The new management team in the capital's government put its own people in key positions. The bank began to check and find all sorts of shortcomings. Borodin was not surprised by such actions. He had to sell his stake to the owner of VTB Bank at a big discount. This was followed by tougher measures. Another check revealed a "hole" in the balance sheet in the amount of more than three hundred billion rubles.

After this news, Borodin left his native country and settled in London. The capital of the British Empire at all times has welcomed refugees from Russia and other countries. Several requests for extradition of the fugitive banker followed from the Russian prosecutor's office. However, the British authorities refused to comply with these requests. After numerous petitions and court proceedings, in 2016 Andrei Borodin was granted political asylum in the UK.

Essays on personal life

Serious people prefer not to talk about their personal lives. Andrey does not hide his marital status. But he also does not advertise what is happening. Borodin is married with a second marriage.
