It doesn't matter what prompted you to publish your material in the newspaper: the desire to gain recognition for your talent, the desire to share your own thoughts and discoveries, or dreams of a journalistic career. To achieve publication, it is not necessary to have a diploma of graduation from the Faculty of Journalism, but talent and desire are welcome. Add to them some of the helpful tips below, and you can go to the editor with confidence!

Step 1
If your article is targeted at a particular newspaper, make sure that the topic of your story for that newspaper is relevant. It is unlikely that an article about the design and application of centralized lubrication systems will be published in a newspaper about hunting and fishing.
Step 2
Write interesting, observing a logical connection between sentences and paragraphs, without leaving the topic. The surest way to create a truly engaging and interesting article is to write what you know and are competent in.
Step 3
Before submitting an article to the editorial office, please go there or call to see if self-written materials are accepted for publication. If you are answered in the affirmative, clarify what are the requirements for the article and whether a fee will be paid for it in case of publication. If it is not possible to find out all this, buy the latest issue of the newspaper and study the texts published in it. What volume, genre, what audience are they intended for, etc.
Step 4
Some advise you to go to the editor "right through" and put your article on his desk. Sometimes this helps, but more often such actions do not cause the editor to sympathize with you, or even to read the article. Submit your material by mail, briefly state its benefits. The shorter and clearer your letter, the higher the chance that it will be read.
Step 5
Wait for a response from the editor. Be prepared for rejection, but if your article is not accepted, do not despair! This does not mean that your article is poorly written, and you are mediocre. Perhaps the editor was just in a bad mood. Try to refer the same article to a different edition.
Step 6
It may happen that the editor is interested in the material, but changes should be made to the article. Check the deadline - the deadline by which the article should be ready - and edit it on time and as required.
