Step 1
Write only about what you are good at, but do not forget that your point of view must be reasoned. So avoid unfounded statements and exaggerated sensations. Use illustrative material extensively. For submission to the publisher, prepare a separate article announcement. Or, instead of an announcement, make a detailed plan.
Step 2
Select a publisher (non-commercial or commercial). Consider your chances of being among its authors soberly. Non-commercial publishing houses are on the balance sheet of the state or exist on the money of sponsors. The main criterion for the selection of publications is scientific and practical significance. The publication of an article on a commercial basis can only take place if it is of interest to a wide range of readers and / or makes a profit. But even if you are going to publish it at your own expense, do not neglect the quality of the material. After all, the publisher, taking care of the company's image, has the right to refuse to cooperate with you at any time.
Step 3
Call the publisher to find out if self-written articles are currently accepted. If the answer is yes, write a letter to his email address. Present your idea in a favorable light. Indicate if you have already had publications in magazines devoted to culture and art, and in which ones. Attach a portfolio to the letter, as well as an announcement of the article you created. Be succinct: Editors have a lot of work to do and don't have time to read extended messages. Step 4
Wait for a response from the publisher. If your submissions were rejected, find out why it happened and if there is room for improvement. If approved, do not submit the entire article until the agreement is concluded. It must indicate the terms and procedure of publication, as well as the amount of the author's remuneration. If there is no response within 2 months from the date of contact, send the offer to another publisher.
Step 5
Adjust the style and content of your article. Consider the focus and requirements of the publisher and what audience the magazine is targeting. To do this, check out its latest releases. Prepare the article in electronic and paper versions and submit it to the publisher.
