Gamzat Tsadasa is a great Dagestan Arabist, poet and thinker. In addition to literary creativity, Gamzat Tsadasa took a great part in the public life of the mountainous republic. For his services he became a laureate of the Stalin Prize and received the title of People's Poet of the Dagestan ASSR.
High in the mountains of Dagestan, the famous Khunzansky region is located, where two great people were born in the village of Tsada - father and son. Gamzat Tsadasa and Rasul Gamzatov.
Translated into Russian, "tsadasa" means "fiery."
In the aul, they cherish the memory of their fellow countrymen. There is a museum in memory of Tsadasa in a stone sakla, which was built by Gamzat Tsadasa and his beloved wife Handulai.
Biography
Gamzat Tsadasa was born on August 9, 1877.
The boy was an orphan from an early age. His parents died, a respectable man became a guardian over him, who decided that the boy would be fine at the school at the mosque. This school was located in the village of Ginichutl. For every Dagestani, this place was a center where cultural and religious traditions and knowledge are kept. The school library kept old medieval books, manuscripts and unique editions of the Koran - the holy book of Muslims.
Arabic scholars such as Dibir Ali worked here. He was famous for his spiritual exploits. Dibir Ali was able to rewrite the Quran 750 times.
Study and work
Education in Dagestan during the life of Gamzat Tsadasa was at a high level. More than 740 mosque schools operated here, where 7,500 children were educated. All received decent knowledge, were fluent in Arabic, became qadis, mullahs and readers of the holy book.
Gamzat Tsadasa was very gifted and began his work early. He wrote fervent poems and fables while still a schoolboy.
He completed a course of studying such sciences as history, geography, philosophy, jurisprudence. Reading literary books, the young man got acquainted with European literature. He was equally interested in classical oriental poetry and Voltaire, Goethe, Hugo. For twenty years of training, Gamzat Tsadasa has collected an excellent library. Due to the properties of his memory, Gamzat possessed unique knowledge - he recited the Holy Quran by heart. The young scientist received well-deserved recognition among the Arabists.
After graduation, Gamzat became a mullah. In his care were the inhabitants of the villages of the Khunzakh plateau. When he needed to immerse himself deeply in the study of the history of the Caucasian War, the scientist went to work as a qadi (judge) in Gimry. Gamzat communicated on religious topics with his contemporaries who were studying theology, such as alim Rajab-haji.
Dagestan master of words
It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of Gamzat Tsadas to the development of the Avar culture. The modern literary Avar language appeared thanks to his writing skills and deep knowledge of the Arabic language. The poetry and drama of the Dagestani writer is classics.
Kind character, the ability to listen to his interlocutor, restraint in gestures and words earned Gamzat the fame of an authoritative and intelligent person.
Gamzat Tsadasa served as an example in mentoring the writers and poets of the Dagestan land.
