Biography
Boris Romanovich Rotenberg was born in St. Petersburg in 1957. He has an older brother, Arkady, who is now also a well-known Russian oligarch.
From childhood, Boris and Arkady Rotenberg grew up very athletic and attended the judo section of the Turbo Builder club. It was here that the elder Arkady made friends with the future president of the country, Vladimir Putin. As for Boris, by his 17th birthday he was already in the rank of Master of Sports in judo, and a few years later he achieved those results already in sambo.
After graduating from school and until 1978, Boris Rotenberg received a coaching education at the Physical Culture Institute. Lesgaft and later got a job as an instructor at a police school. In the turbulent 90s, Boris had to immigrate to Finland, where his wife Irina Haranen was from. A few years later, he returned to his homeland, where, with his older brother, who had already succeeded in business, he founded the Northern Sea Route (NSR) bank, which later became one of the largest in the country.
From 2003 to 2009, the Rotenberg brothers increased their capital and influence in various economic spheres of the country. They became the head of such enterprises as Rosspirtprom, Gaztaged, Mosstroymehanizatsiya-5 and others, whose main specialization is the supply of products for leading Russian corporations, including Gazprom.

During his student years, Boris Rotenberg met Irina Haranen, who is of Finno-Jewish origin. They entered into a marriage in which their sons Roman and Boris were born.
