This class could already boast of celebrities in sports: Sergei Zinoviev and Dmitry Orlov. Such a simple distribution decided the fate of the future world famous hockey player.
Almost immediately, teachers and coaches noted their high skill while on skates. In addition, Sergei showed leadership qualities. Initially, the young hockey player had a desire to become a striker. But here, too, chance decided his future fate.
One day, the main goal-defender was injured and the coach decided to temporarily put Sergei Bobrovsky in his place. The main reasons were the high growth of the hockey player and excellent dexterity.
Career of Sergei Bobrovsky
Bobrovsky made his debut at the age of 18, as expected, in Novokuznetsk Metallurg. 1 year after the first match, the young hockey player began to appear in the game from the very beginning. True, for this period the club faced financial problems, which led to regression. As a result, Metallurg had the weakest defense in the entire league. But this negative moment, perhaps, was the impetus for Sergei Bobrovsky. The young goalkeeper often had to hold back attacks and defend the goal. As a result, Sergei Andreevich was even invited to participate in the Super League stars match.
After the contract in Russia was completed, Sergei went to the United States and signed a contract with one of the most famous NHL teams, the Philadelphia Flyers. Initially, the coach wanted to rent it, but at some point he changed his mind. Sergey surprised him with his capabilities and got his place as the second goalkeeper.
Before the opening of the season, the main goalkeeper of the team was injured and Sergei Bobrovsky became a discovery in the championship. He defended the goal and helped his team win away in Pittsburgh. Later Sergey was named the best newcomer.
But despite the success, the team signed a contract with another Russian goalkeeper, and Bobrovsky had to sit out as a substitute. Accordingly, he categorically did not like it. And the next summer, he goes to the Columbus Blue Jackets. It should be noted that at that moment he was not sitting still, but was playing for the St. Petersburg SKA.
Thanks to Sergei, the Columbus Blue Jackets showed a record streak of unbeaten games in the first season.
