Vladimir Pavlovich Sukhanov is a wonderful Russian musician, an outstanding accordion player and teacher. His biography is associated with the city of Ufa, the Republic of Bashkortostan, where he was born, educated, lives and works all his creative life. Nevertheless, Sukhanov is well known to fans of button accordion music throughout our country, as well as abroad, where the musician went on tour many times.
Biography facts. Childhood
Vladimir Sukhanov was born on November 27, 1948 in the city of Ufa of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic - then that was the name of Bashkortostan. From childhood, the boy began to show musical abilities, and when his father noticed this, with every paycheck he began to buy gramophone records for his son with recordings of classical, folk and Soviet pop music. Since then, Sukhanov fell in love with Russian, Bashkir and other folk songs, knew the repertoire of popular Russian singers well. The musician is very grateful to his father for instilling in him a love of music and developing his musical horizons.
At the age of nine, Volodya Sukhanov came to study at the music school No. 3 in the city of Ufa. Initially, the boy was admitted to the violin class, the violin teacher quit, and Vladimir was assigned to the button accordion class to the teacher Vladimir Konstantinovich Vlasov. Until the third grade, Volodya did not stand out from the group of other students, and then, according to Vlasov, literally "flooded" - he made a huge leap in his musical development, later becoming one of the best graduates.
Becoming a professional musician
After graduating from a music school and receiving a secondary education, Vladimir Sukhanov entered the Ufa School of Arts, where his teacher in the accordion class was L. K. Akhtyamova. In 1968, Sukhanov graduated from college and entered the UGII - Ufa State Institute of Arts, graduating from which he received in 1973. At the institute, Vladimir studied under the specialty of the outstanding accordionist and teacher Vyacheslav Filippovich Belyakov, the orchestral conducting class was taught by Valery Konstantinovich Moiseev, who is also an excellent accordion player.
After graduation, the musical education of Vladimir Sukhanov was briefly interrupted: he was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet Army, served in Yakutia from 1973 to 1974. And returning to his professional activity, he entered and in 1978 graduated from the performing assistant-internship at the GMPI (now the Russian Academy of Music) named after the Gnesins, his head was Professor Anatoly Alekseevich Surkov.
Thanks to creative communication with such masters of accordion art as Belyakov, Moiseev, Surkov, Vladimir Sukhanov received an excellent education both as a virtuoso performer, as a conductor of an orchestra of folk instruments, and as a teacher.
Performing activities
The performing activity of Vladimir Pavlovich Sukhanov is incredibly active and diverse. Soon after returning from the army, he came to work at the Bashkir State Philharmonic named after Khusain Akhmetov - first as an accompanist, and then as a soloist (since 1975). The young talented musician began to be delegated to all sorts of all-Union and international competitions and festivals, from where he invariably brought diplomas and awards: for example, he performed at the competition of young accordionists of the Volga region, at the famous annual International competition in the German city of Klingenthal "Harmonica Days", at the competition-festival in Saratov, dedicated to the work of the blind accordionist Ivan Yakovlevich Panitsky and others. Sukhanov became a regular participant in the so-called Aksakov movement, the Musical Necklace of the Urals festivals, where he performed both solo and as part of various concert groups.
Sukhanov's touring activity was no less intense and eventful: he visited with concerts such countries as Germany, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Mongolia - and this is still an incomplete list, not to mention touring the cities of the USSR …
In 1975, a strong creative alliance was formed between Vladimir Sukhanov and another talented accordion player - Rajap Yunusovich Shaikhutdinov. First, the musicians formed a duet, then from 1988 Valery Alekseevich Bashenev joined them (until 1994), and in 1996 a trio of Ufa bayanists was formed consisting of Vladimir Sukhanov, Rajap Shaikhutdinov and his student Oleg Melnikov.
Vladimir Sukhanov also performed as a soloist with such groups as the Native Tunes ensemble, the Tagil Harmonics orchestra, the Zabava ensemble of folk instruments, the Metelitsa ensemble created by Sukhanov himself at the UGII, and others. Vladimir Pavlovich Sukhanov's merits as The accordion performer was appreciated by the state: in 1984 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, in 1995 - Honored Artist of Russia, and in 2015 - People's Artist of Bashkortostan. In December 2016, Vladimir Sukhanov and Rajap Shaikhutdinov received "Silver Discs" - an award established by the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography of Russia within the framework of the International Music Festival "Bayan and Bayanists".
Sukhanov also recorded at the recording studio: in the late 1980s, three discs were released at the Melodiya company, where Vladimir Sukhanov accompanies Idris Gaziev, the famous Bashkir singer and his good friend.
An interesting fact of the biography: at the beginning of Vladimir Sukhanov's professional performing career, in 1976, he acquired a luxurious accordion of the Jupiter brand. Since then, the musician has not parted with his instrument, he carefully looks after it with the constant help and support of the tuner Vasily Ivanovich Slyaguzov.
Pedagogical activity
Vladimir Pavlovich Sukhanov made an invaluable contribution to the development of national pedagogy of performing the button accordion. Teaching at the UGII - an institute that Sukhanov himself graduated from, the musician began immediately after returning from the army - in 1974. The teaching career of the musician developed systematically: having received the position of senior teacher in 1980, in 1990 he became an assistant professor, and in 1995 - a professor at the department of folk instruments. In 2006, Sukhanov was appointed Dean of the Music Department of the Ufa Institute (Academy) of Arts.
Over the years of teaching, Sukhanov has prepared a galaxy of brilliant performers on the button accordion and accordion. Among them are A. Gataullin, A. Bariev, R. Sagitov, M. Ostapenko and many other distinguished musicians. All students speak incredibly warmly about their teacher, they call him a Man with a capital letter, a teacher who knows how to find an approach to each of his wards, regardless of his level of giftedness. He never raises his voice to students, he is able to find the correct and understandable words to motivate them to successful work.
Sukhanov also made a contribution to the scientific and methodological branch of musical pedagogy: he is the author, compiler, editor of over twenty methodological manuals, programs, arrangements for the accordion, anthologies and other works.
Personal life
Friends, colleagues and students of Vladimir Sukhanov characterize him as a man of incredible modesty who does not like to talk about himself. Perhaps this is why Sukhanov does not advertise his personal life: there is no information about his family - wife, children. In social networks, Sukhanov has friends and musicians and residents of the city of Ufa Pavel Sukhanov and Alexander Sukhanov; it can be assumed that these are relatives of Vladimir Pavlovich, probably sons.
It is also known that in his free time the musician is fond of fishing - his student and friend Linar Davletbaev, now artistic director and chief conductor of the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Bashkortostan, told about this in one of his interviews.
