Ballet is an elite art. It is not so easy to recognize images created with the help of dance and musical accompaniment. This requires training and education. Galina Ulanova, a legendary and inimitable actress, dedicated her life to ballet. This difficult service was appreciated by grateful spectators and representatives of government agencies.
Family tradition
People's Artist of the Soviet Union Galina Sergeevna Ulanova lived a rich and difficult life. Looking at the scene where a dancer in a white "tutu" flutters to the music, it seems that she never gets tired. In fact, this is absolutely not the case. Maximum physical and nervous tension is hidden behind the ease of movement. It is difficult to imagine that young girls and boys deliberately doom themselves to hard labor. It is not easier for the directors of dance numbers. When preparing a performance, they have to take into account the physical characteristics of a particular performer.
The biography of a great actress can fit on one page of typewritten text. Galina Ulanova was born in January 1910. A family of ballet dancers who served at the Mariinsky Theater were expecting a boy. But if the Lord ordered in his own way, the parents sincerely gave their love and tenderness to the girl. The child was not pampered, but also not deprived of the basic joys of childhood. The father gladly took the girl with him on a fishing trip. The little fisherwoman herself knew how to drip worms and catch a gudgeon in a summer cottage pond. However, upon reaching the age of nine, Galya was sent to a choreographic school.
The girl received special education under the supervision of her mother, who worked as a teacher at the school. Over the years of her studies, Galina experienced firsthand how a ballerina lives and what she does in between performances. When Ulanova completed her studies, she was immediately admitted to the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater. At that time she was 18 years old. From the first appearance on the stage, Galina made a favorable impression on the audience and critics.
Prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater
Work in the theater demanded full dedication from the actress. It must be understood that in the acting environment at all times there is a spirit of rivalry and envy. And the career did not go as smoothly as it seemed later. A year later, Ulanova was entrusted with performing the leading role in the ballet Swan Lake. In the pre-war period, she danced Juliet in the ballet Romeo and Juliet. Experts from all over the world recognized this performance as a benchmark. When the war began, Galina Sergeevna, together with the theater troupe, was evacuated to Alma-Ata.
In this difficult time, ballet dancers performed in factory workshops, in field camps, in hospitals and in front of soldiers who were sent to the front. For conscientious work, Galina Ulanova was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR in 1943. A year later, he was transferred to the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. Here she danced her best parts. From here, together with the creative team of the theater, she traveled, in the literal sense of the word, the whole world. Feature films and documentaries, TV shows and dance tutorials were filmed about the genius ballerina.
Galina Ulanova's personal life did not work out. In his first marriage with actor and director Yuri Zavadsky, he lived for more than ten years. After the war, the husband and wife decided to leave. Then there was another union, but the spouse died suddenly. In the third attempt, an educated man, but a banal alcoholic, turned out to be nearby. Galina Sergeevna did not give birth to children - a ballerina's career and motherhood are not complimentary. The great ballerina died in March 1998.
