The one and only king of disco - Mithun Chakraborty. Indian Elvis Presley. A favorite of all women of the former USSR and India. He was the first to change Indian cinema and bring his fire dances to it. A passionate actor with a gentle heart and a difficult fate. Constantly falling and rising, he achieved the greatest success with great difficulty.
Biography
The son of a poor telephone worker was born on June 16, 1947 in Barisala. At birth he was named Gouranda. From childhood, he showed acting talent. He has always participated in school theater productions. After school, he studied in Calcutta at the Scottish Church College.
In the 1960s, Mithun joined the extreme leftist Naxalite movement. The Naxalites fought against social injustice in India and their methods led to human casualties. The authorities suppressed riots, arrested and executed many. Knowing that his son was putting himself in danger, Mithun's father sent him to live with his uncle in Bombay.
The beginning of adulthood
Once in Bombay, Mithun did not wait long and began earning little money. He got a job as a traveling salesman, traveled around the country selling various cosmetics. He traveled around India for about a year, until he found out that the Institute of Film and Television in the city of Pune was admitting to the acting department.
Mituhun was fired up with the idea to fulfill his old dream - to become an actor. But life is not as easy as it seems. The admissions committee from the first time did not accept the young man with the origin of them, and even with a revolutionary past. A year later, Mithun tried again to enter the acting department. Thanks to his outstanding external data and brilliant talent, he was accepted, moreover, Chakraborty graduated from the Institute with honors.
The path to the cinema
During his studies, our hero has already started acting in films. His first (albeit cameo) role was in the movie "Two Strangers". Unfortunately, this role did not bring him any success. After some time, the young Mithun was noticed by the director Mrinal Sen. He was looking for a young talent for the movie "The Royal Hunt". The tanned and tall handsome Chacroborty was perfect for this role. To get used to the image of a hunter from the Santal tribe, Mithun studied their life and even hunted with them. The artist got used to the role so much that the film was a huge success and was awarded the Golden Lotus prize, and Mithun received the prize for Best Actor.
The picture was successful, but this was not enough for offers with contracts to pour in from popular directors. Mithun continued to act in films, but they were low-budget, did not bring him popularity, and the income from them was tiny.
But in 1982, everything changed dramatically. The movie "Disco Dancer" with Mithun in the title role was released. This picture brought him overwhelming success. The contracts from the producers continued to fall. Chacroborty worked, not allowing himself to rest. Not all films were successful, but the audience already adored their idol and did not miss a single picture with his participation.
Family life
The famous actor had ups and downs not only in work, but also in his personal life. When his career was very tight, he participated in dance shows in order to somehow improve his budget. He performed with the famous model Helena Lloc. After the movie "Defense", which was very popular with the audience, but had a small budget, Helena and Mithun got married. Their marriage did not last long.
Mithun's second marriage turned out to be more prosperous and remains strong to this day. Chacroborty married actress Yogita Bali. She gave up her career and devoted herself entirely to her family. Yogita bore Mithuna three sons. Later, they also adopted a little girl, whom the actor accidentally found in a trash bin. Mithun, without hesitation, decided to take the child and not give it to the guardianship service.
Through hardship to the stars
The Indian actor has about 350 films, most of which he starred in. In some films, the actor even played the villains. Mithun does not stop there even now. Despite his considerable age, he is still filming, but he is already taking on supporting roles. He has achieved a lot and does not seek to prove anything to anyone. Mithun helps young actors move forward, knowing full well how difficult it was himself. In addition to his acting career, Chacroborty has been in the hotel business since the 90s.
Mithun Chakroborty is no longer young, but for the audience he remains the same tanned, daring and sparkling dancer and fighter for justice.
