Biography: early years

Karomatullo Kurbanov was born on November 29, 1961 in the small town of Kulob, 175 km from Dushanbe. Soon after his appearance, the family moved to the neighboring area of Rudaki. There, the parents of the future singer began to work on the Partizan Surkh collective farm.

Caromatullo became interested in music when he went to school. During that period, he literally lived for her. It was not difficult for him to quickly master playing several instruments.

After school, Kurbanov became a student at the Institute of Arts. There he became close to Ismatullo Kholov. Together with him, they later invented and brought to life the "Sugdiyon" ensemble, in which they sang a duet. The team was very popular in Tajikistan.

However, their creative tandem soon fell apart. But by that time, Kurbanov was already recognized on the street. This helped him quickly find work in another ensemble. So he became a soloist of the "Gulshan" collective.

Creation

The musical career of Karomatullo Kurbanov quickly took off. He was constantly invited to concerts of national importance. His compositions were recognizable due to the peculiar style of performance. He was the founder of his school on the local stage and brought a new trend into it.

Caromatullo was sympathetic to the Indian style. Even in national music, he tried to use Indian instruments. Two decades after the death of Kurbanov, many young Tajik singers imitate his technique and try to resemble him.

In parallel with the performance of songs, Caromatullo composed poetry and music. Among his creations were hits such as:

  • Raks Bikun;
  • "Zindagi";
  • "Shakhri Boroni".

Tragic death

The life of a popular singer ended at the age of 30. On October 18, 1992, he was shot with a submachine gun pointed straight in his face. At that time, the civil war in Tajikistan was in full swing. On that October evening, Kurbanov, along with his musicians, performed at the wedding of an influential person in the village of Toshokhur. When the artists were returning home after the concert, gunmen attacked their car on the road.

They shot the musicians in cold blood with machine guns. Then only one person survived - sound engineer Rustam Alimov, who managed to escape unnoticed. It was he who told that, shooting in the faces of Kurbanov, the militant angrily squeezed out: "We are fighting here, and you sing songs at weddings?"

Personal life

Kurbanov was married. Three children were born in the marriage: two sons and a daughter. Muhammadrafi's son and daughter Noziya followed in their father's footsteps. They are very popular on the Tajik stage.
