Mikhail Yurievich is a hereditary lawyer. His great-grandfather, Yakov Davydovich, was also involved in legal activities in Ukraine. Grandmother, Tatyana Yakovlevna, actively participated in it during the Great October Revolution, was a member of the All-Russian emergency commission for combating counter-revolution and sabotage under the Council of People's Commissars, then became deputy prosecutor in the capital of the Soviet Union. The ancestors of Mikhail Yuryevich, not associated with jurisprudence, also distinguished themselves. Barshchevsky's maternal grandmother is a descendant of the knights of the Teutonic Order. The wife of the revolutionary grandmother, Aleksey Pavlovich Selivanovsky, created the Literaturnaya Gazeta. During the repressions he was shot. The wife of the "enemy of the people", Tatyana Yakovlevna, was rehabilitated only after Stalin's death in 1956. She immediately returned to the legal profession. The son of Barshchevskaya, Yuri Selivanovsky, was adopted, but despite this, he was also declared an "enemy of the people." It was not easy for him to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors, but he was not afraid and received a law degree and in the end was able to achieve success: he became one of the best lawyers in the USSR. This is the father of Mikhail Barshchevsky.

Mikhail Yurievich was born in Moscow on December 27, 1955. The foundation for a successful career was laid in childhood. Therefore, the parents tried to give Misha a good education and even chose a not simple school - a special English school number 29 on Kropotkinskaya. The family can be attributed to the Arbat intelligentsia, so the mother not only tried to ensure that her son received all the knowledge necessary for the future profession, but also developed him in other directions, brought up a real person in him.
It was clear from the very beginning who Michael would become in the future life. But jurisprudence is a fairly broad area. Having received a higher education, Barshchevsky decided to develop in the business advocacy. Before that, he had already conducted various cases, including criminal ones. This gave him a lot of experience, especially since the lawyer did not choose simple cases in which it was easy to succeed. He himself recalls that he made the decision to specifically take cases that experienced lawyers did not undertake. Judge for yourself: it is not a shame to lose such a case, the others did not even try, but at least he did. But the price of victory was already high: others got scared, but he did it.
Choosing for himself the niche of a business lawyer, Mikhail Yuryevich acted very far-sighted, because just at this time, and the eighties were ending, the Soviet Union was living out its last days and entrepreneurship had already begun to emerge. Commercial banks also appeared, for some Barshchevsky even wrote statutes.
Already in 1989, he got the unique opportunity to go to the United States for an internship at a large law firm "Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McLoy". Her clients even included the Rockefeller family. A year later, upon his return from the United States, Mikhail Yurievich created the first in the USSR, and then in Russia, a private legal office called "Moscow Lawyers". Three years later, it was transformed into the law office "Barshchevsky and Partners" of Moscow City State Archive of Russia. At the same time, the well-known lawyer is not only engaged in professional activities in practice, but also continues his scientific work: on the basis of his Ph. D. thesis, he writes a doctoral dissertation and successfully defends it.
Since 2001, Barshchevsky's political career also begins. In the Government of the Russian Federation, where he was invited to work, Mikhail Yuryevich becomes the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Russian Federation in various courts of the Russian Federation. From that time on, Barshchevsky essentially became the country's main lawyer.
At the end of 2006, Barshchevsky decided on his political priorities and joined the Civil Power party. In the fall of 2007, he was elected chairman of the High World, in this post he was for exactly one year. And in 2012, Barshchevsky was elected to the federal civil committee of the Civic Platform party. After three years, he left the party.
