Salma Hayek is one of the most successful Latin American actresses in Hollywood. During her extensive career, she has participated in over 100 projects and has produced 6 successful films.
Family and education
Salma Hayek was born into a wealthy Mexican family in Coatzacoalcos in 1966. At birth, she was given the name Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimenez, where Hayek is the surname from her father, oilman Sami Hayek Dominiges, and Jimenez from her mother, singer Diana Jimenez Medina. Salma became the only child in this wealthy family, so her parents tried to give her all the best.
In 1978, the girl was sent to Louisiana to be educated at a Catholic boarding school. Unfortunately, the teenager's behavior left much to be desired, so she was expelled from school. In addition, during her school years she was diagnosed with "dyslexia" - a congenital disease, the main symptom of which is impaired reading and writing skills. All this was not the most pleasant situations for Salma, because for several years she had dreamed of becoming an actress. The schoolgirl released all her energy in sports, reaching heights in gymnastics. At the age of 17, she began her studies in the capital of Mexico. After graduating, Hayek decided it was time to fulfill her dream. At 22, she began going to castings.
Career
The very first role of Salma Hayek became the main one. In 1989, she played Teresa in the Mexican TV series of the same name. The attractive actress quickly gained popularity, but was not going to stop there. Deciding that Mexican cinema should be left behind, Hayek moved closer to the homeland of cinema - Hollywood, settling in Los Angeles.
For a long time, the dreams of a young Mexican woman crashed against the harsh reality: Latin Americans in Hollywood were given frankly vulgar roles of mistresses and dancers, and poor knowledge of English, in principle, did not imply getting the main roles. Over the next few years, the actress managed to perfectly learn 3 foreign languages. So she demonstrated her irresistible desire to become in demand in Hollywood.
Once Hayek was invited to an American Hispanic TV show, where she let slip that it is difficult for a Latino girl to get a role that is not related to vulgarity. After this release, she was invited to his project by the famous Hollywood director Robert Rodriguez, where she had to play a fundamentally new role for herself in an action movie.
After this project, invitations to Hollywood action films began to fall asleep in the young actress. In 2002 she received an Oscar for her performance in the film Frida, in which she worked as a producer. The career of the actress continues to this day.
Personal life
The Hollywood actress met with her colleague on the set Edward Norton for a long time, but the couple existed for 4 years. Hayek then had a year relationship with filmmaker Lucas.
Since 2004, Hayek began dating François-Henri Pinault. Out of wedlock, the partners had a daughter, but a year later the couple terminated their relationship. The gap, however, did not last long, and already in 2009 they got married. The actress added her husband's last name to hers, now her full name sounds like Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimenez-Pino.
