Armen Sergeevich Grigoryan is a famous Russian performer, founder and leader of the Crematorium rock group, the author of its music and songs, one of the founders of Russian rock in general. He has released several poetry collections and has appeared in films a couple of times as an actor.
Biography
The future rock musician was born into an Armenian family in the fall of 1960. Then Armen's mother and father lived in Moscow. Since childhood, Armen Grigoryan was fond of sports and the exact sciences, three times became the champion of the Leningrad region of the capital in football, and after receiving secondary education, he followed in the footsteps of the aircraft designer's father and submitted documents to the Aviation Institute.
All this time, musical creativity was rather a hobby of young Armen. While still at school, he created the Black Spots group with friends, in his student years he founded the hard rock team Atmospheric Pressure, and already in 1983, after graduation, together with Viktor Tregubov, he organized the Crematorium rock team, which at first performed at home and in clubs.
Career
Thanks to its unusual sound, bright lyrics and original arrangements, "Crematorium" quickly gained popularity among rock musicians and their fans in the capital. By 1990, the team had already released three albums, which were excellently bought. The first collection "Illusory World" (1986) received the Grand Prix at the prestigious Moscow festival. The second album entitled "Coma" (1988), which included the famous composition "Garbage Wind", is still considered the most successful in the work of Grigoryan.
After "Coma" the group began to tour actively throughout the former USSR and abroad - Israel, Germany, USA. In 1994, Armen starred in the drama "Tatsu" or "Hounds Dogs" directed by Vyacheslav Lagunov, along with another Russian rock legend Anastasia Poleva. The film never appeared in cinemas, but Grigoryan actively used footage from it in his clips.
In 2008, "Crematorium" released its "Golden Disc" - a compilation "Amsterdam", which became incredibly successful commercially. In the same year, Grigoryan starred in the Ukrainian-Russian film How to Find Your Ideal.
Armen is still engaged in various creative projects, continues his musical activity and does not interfere in politics.
Personal life
Grigoryan was officially married twice. The first time the wedding took place in 1988 - he fell in love with Khalyutina Irina, an intelligent girl, the daughter of a diplomat, who gave birth to his son and daughter. In the nineties, Armen was struck by misfortune, it was the most difficult period of his life, filled with tragic losses. In 1992, her mother died of cancer, followed by her father three years later, and in the same year, due to disagreements with his wife, the performer divorced.
Shortly thereafter, both Armen and Irina found a new love. The ex-wife married a banker, and Grigoryan married Daria Shatalova in 1997, and the next year they had a daughter, and then another. But this family did not last long either.
Currently, the musician lives in a civil marriage with the director of the "Crematorium" team Natalya Serya, they do not plan to have children. Armen is fond of painting, has held a number of personal exhibitions, sometimes he is engaged in architectural and landscape design.
