The real legend of Soviet and Russian cinema - Leonid Vyacheslavovich Kuravlev - was especially fond of the mass audience for his films in films: "Viy", "The Golden Calf", "Afonya", "Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession", "Seventeen Moments of Spring". Today, the people's favorite leads a rather secluded life and does not want to "shine with his face", which does not lose popularity, but only inflames an increased interest in his person.
People's Artist of the RSFSR Leonid Kuravlev, in addition to his prestigious title, is also a holder of the Orders of Merit to the Fatherland, IV degree and Badge of Honor, awarded for a special contribution to the development of Russian culture and art. Behind the shoulders of this legend of cinema there are more than two hundred films, played in a wide variety of roles.
Brief biography and career of Leonid Vyacheslavovich Kuravlev
On October 8, 1936, in a simple Moscow family (father is a locksmith, and mother is a housewife), the future artist was born, who created many masterpieces that were included in the Golden Collection of Soviet and Russian cinema. The difficult childhood years, when the mother, on a denunciation in 1941, was evicted from the capital to the Murmansk region for seven years, did not break Leonid, who dreamed of becoming a movie actor.
But fate did not immediately become favorable to his talent. The first attempt to enter VGIK on the advice of a cousin was unsuccessful due to too much competition. However, after two years of work, Kuravlev again makes an attempt to get a higher acting education, and it bears fruit. And even having entered VGIK on the course to Boris Vladimirovich Bibikov, Leonid fought for survival for the first two courses, since his natural closeness initially did not allow him to completely liberate himself and gain confidence on stage.
Leonid Kuravlev made his debut on the set with the participation in the graduation projects of the students of directing Alexander Gordon and Andrei Tarkovsky. It was their short film "Today there will be no dismissal" that became the first experience of a novice actor. And after that, in 1960, Vasily Shukshin invites Kuravlev to his graduation project - the film "From Lebyazhy They Report." In the same year, Mikhail Schweitzer took him to the historical painting "Warrant Officer Panin".
And real fame comes to the novice actor in 1964, when he played in Vasily Shukshin's comedy "Such a guy lives." Leonid Vyacheslavovich remembers the famous director and actor with great gratitude. The artist's respect for the great talent even forced him to name his son after him.
Currently, the number of Kuralev's films exceeds two hundred. I would especially like to note the following successful projects in his filmography: Viy (1967), The Golden Calf (1968), Gogi, Burn, My Star (1969), The Life and Amazing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe (1972), Seventeen Moments of Spring "(1973)," Ivan Vasilyevich changes his profession "(1973)," Afonya "(1975)," It can't be! " (1975), Ladies Invite Cavaliers (1980), The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson: The Twentieth Century Begins (1986), The Rain Trail (1991), Destroy the Thirtieth! (1992), The Brigade (2002), Streets of Broken Lanterns (2005).
On his eightieth anniversary, the People's Artist of the RSFSR received congratulations from the President and the Prime Minister of Russia when he declared that moral values and a strong country are much more important to him than movie roles.
Personal life of the artist
Worthy to represent his generation and domestic cinema spent his entire life with his only beloved woman - his wife Nina. In this strong and happy marriage, a son, Vasily, and a daughter, Catherine, were born.
In 2012, his wife died, and Leonid Vyacheslavovich was very upset about his loss. He closed himself off from the outside world, and employees of the Troekurovsky cemetery still often see the legend of Russian cinema, who openly cries at the grave of a dear person, not paying attention to anyone.
