Starting conditions
During a certain chronological period, many experts believed that photography would replace the paintings that artists create. This did not happen, but another genre of fine art appeared - art photography. Alexander Iosifovich Lapin treated the process of creating pictures not as a hobby or hobby. He devoted his entire adult life to the study of this technology, as a tool for the search for perfection in nature and in the human environment. Lapin talked about how this perfection can be achieved in his lectures and books.
The future photographer and teacher was born on May 17, 1945 in an ordinary Soviet family. Parents lived in Moscow. The father was at the front. Mother worked as an operator at the central telegraph office. Little Sasha, mother and grandmother were huddled in a small room of a communal apartment. In the next room, the head of the family had a captured German camera. On weekends, he covered the window with black cloth and printed photographs. For Alexander, these procedures seemed like magic. The awakened interest of children determined the direction of his life path.
Professional activity
Like many photographers, Lapin did not receive a special education. In childhood, he grew up as a sickly child. After school he entered the Physico-Technical Institute, but after the first year he dropped out. He managed to make money and buy himself a simple camera. To earn his living, Alexander offered his services to various enterprises. Designed various stands and galleries of production leaders. At the same time, he regularly took pictures of the landscapes and people around him. He exhibited his work at various exhibitions.
Alexander Iosifovich lectured free of charge on the basics of composition at the Correspondence People's University of Arts. In 1985 Lapin organized the Art Photography Studio, which operated for several years at the House of Culture of Moscow State University. The creativity of the photographer was assessed in different ways. In the media, there were both positive reviews and sharply negative reviews of the plot photographs. Based on many years of practice, Lapin wrote his first book entitled "Photography as …", which was published in 2003.
Recognition and privacy
In his books, the famous photo artist considered the theory of black and white documentary photography. Formulated the laws of composition. He revealed the psychological characteristics of the perception of images. For several years Lapin gave lectures at the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University on the basics of image design and editing.
The personal life of Alexander Lapin turned out well. He lived his entire life in a legal marriage. Husband and wife shared common interests. Raised and raised a son. Alexander Iosifovich died in October 2012.
