Childhood and university years
The birthplace of Jim Morrison is Melbourne, a town in the USA, in the state of Florida (not to be confused with the Australian Melbourne). Rocker was born in this town in February 1943.
When Jim was a four-year-old child, he witnessed an event that greatly influenced his further biography and work. From his parent's car, Jim saw a truck carrying Indian workers overturn. As an adult, Jim recalled that then he first realized what fear is. In addition, he assured that the souls of two victims had moved into him on that highway.
In 1962, Jim entered the University of Florida. However, at the beginning of 1964 he moved to Los Angeles and entered another educational institution - UCLA, at the film faculty. During the years of study, Jim even made two films, which, however, did not delight his fellow students.
Morrison and the Doors: the road to success
At UCLA, Jim became friends with Ray Manzarek. Together they founded the rock band The Doors. And soon it was joined by drummer Johnny Densmore and guitarist Rob Krieger.
The group began performing at local venues. As eyewitnesses recall, at first their performances were rather awkward. The work of the musicians (Rob, John and Ray) was not professional. And Jim Morrison was very timid on stage. At first, he even sang, turning his back to the audience and the audience. In addition, Jim sometimes went on stage drunk … But despite this, within six months The Doors had a chance to perform at the most fashionable club on Sunset Boulevard - "Whiskey-A-Go-Go".
Producer Paul Rothschild drew attention to the group at some point. Previously, he only dealt with jazz musicians, but took a risk and offered The Doors cooperation. Already their first single "Break On Through" hit the top ten of the Billboard charts, and the next song - "Light My Fire" - rose to first place in it. And at the beginning of 1967, The Doors' debut album was released and immediately became very famous.
In their music, The Doors emphasized an unusual mixture of organ and guitar sound. But the true phenomenon of the sixties The Doors became largely due to the charisma of Jim Morrison. Morrison attracted people (usually young) with unconventional, rebellious behavior. Another factor of success is Morrison's deep, full of amazing images. Personal life
Jim Morrison was a regular at strip clubs, where he was eagerly served. On top of that, there have always been female fans on tour with The Doors, who of course slept with their idols. It can be argued that Morrison was a sex addict.
In 1970, Patricia Kennelly, an extravagant girl who considered herself a real witch, became Morrison's official wife. It is known that the newlyweds held the wedding ceremony in accordance with the ancient rituals of the Celts.
And then Jim rolled downhill: uncontrolled alcohol consumption, arrests for obscene antics, fights with cops … Morrison has changed very much in appearance: from a long-haired handsome man, he turned into a fat and sloppy man.
In 1971, the rocker comes with his next girlfriend Pamela Carson to Paris to work on a new collection of poems. And on July 3, 1971, he dies in this city. The official version is this: the star had a heart attack. However, there are other versions - suicide, drug overdose, etc.
