Biographical information

In October 1969, Randolph Siverne Parker III was born into the family of Randy and Sharon Parker, who by that time already had a daughter, Shelley. This is Trey Parker's full name. My father was engaged in geology, my mother worked as an insurance agent. The family lives in Conifer, Colorado, USA.

Carried away by the views of Alan Watts, the father tried to raise his son in the spirit of the philosophical teachings of Buddhism. However, young Parker was more interested in music, he willingly played the piano. In 1988, after graduating from Evergreen, Trey left for Massachusetts and entered the Boston College of Music, Berkeley. From there, he transfers to the University of Colorado (UCB), Boulder. Studying the humanities, Trey specializes in his main hobby, music, and also teaches Japanese.

The young man is somewhat interested in the creation of fiction and animation films. To get acquainted with the details of the filming process, Parker begins to attend special courses. Here he met Matt Stone, who, in addition to mathematics, was actively involved in cinematography. They became friends and created a creative tandem Parker-Stone, over time achieved significant critical success, acting as co-authors of various film projects. Trey Parker became widely known as the instigator and showrunner of the adult animated television series South Park.

Career in the genre of adult animation and fiction films

Trey's acting talent was evident in childhood, when in elementary school he performed on a talent show with a sketch called "The Dentist." During the action, a sea of fake blood spilled on the stage, the audience was frightened. The first success was expressed in the fact that the parents of a rude jester and lover of banter were summoned to school. Parker's early teenage films include Sri Lanka's Giant Beavers and First Date. Parker was the first to use paper animation in his 1991 Undergraduate Academy Award-winning short animated film American History (1991).

Parker wrote, directed and starred in the 1993 feature film Cannibal! Musical . For friends and colleagues of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, this was the first major joint project. In the musical, in the spirit of black comedy, Trey played the role of the traveler Alfred Packer, the first convict of cannibalism in the history of the United States. Someone considered the film a masterpiece, someone mediocre - the tape became the cause of disagreement in the world of the film industry. Brian Graden drew attention to the extraordinary work of young directors. FoxLab executive producer ordered a Christmas animated video card from the guys. So in 1995, a short cartoon was created in which Jesus and Santa vied for the right to lead Christmas. The heroes of the very childish The Spirit of Christmas subsequently appeared on the cable channel Comedy Central, which launched episodes of the first season of the animated adult series South Park.

Trey Parker has collaborated with a large number of leading film studios and people of the cinema world, creating interesting and popular projects for children and adults. Among them, they became quite famous and sensational:

  • pseudo-documentary satirical musical project "Distorted Time". It includes a story about Aaron and Moses, who were looking for ways of liberation for the Jews, and a love story like “Romeo and Juliet”, developing against the background of enmity between different species of man - erectus homo erectus and australopithecus. Due to the unusual scenario ideas, the project was closed.
  • the full-length film Orgasmo tells the story of how a Mormon accidentally falls into the realm of the Los Angeles porn business. According to the American MPAA system, the film received a tough film rating of NC-17 (not for children under 17) and was not released for wide distribution.
  • filming in the comedy of the famous director David Zucker "BASEKETBALL". The plot is based on the story of friends who, with their yard team, enter the world of professional sports.
  • the TV show This Is My Bush !, made in 2001, was not a political satire, but a parody ridiculing classic sitcom clichés. The series did not last long due to the unrealistic cost ($ 1 million per episode).
  • in 2004, a full-length puppet cartoon was released, in which Parker ridiculed American jingoism and the notorious "American Dream." The evil satirical comedy "Team America: World Police" simultaneously parodied the cartoon, on the basis of which the heroes (Thunderbirds TV) and formulaic films in the spirit of Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer were created.

Showrunners and actors Trey and Matt fail to really prove themselves outside of South Park. The scandalous series, replete with "outhouse" humor, grease and rough jokes "on the verge of a foul", which began in 1997, as a joke, unexpectedly dragged on for more than twenty years. The creators laughingly assure that they will not leave cable TV until they are forcibly kicked out the door. But this is more like a provocative attack, as contact with them is extended until the 23rd season.

Parker claims that the English TV series Monty Python: The Flying Circus has always been his inspiration for movie bullying. And also the animation that Terry Gilliam did for the comedy show. His favorite movie genre is the action movie Megasil, filmed in 1982 by former stuntman Hal Needham. The South Park show, which made Trey Parker famous, sees its instigator and executive producer as his own band, and every season as a new album.

Musician and voice actor

Trey has been playing the piano since the age of 12. He received his musical education at Boston College. Together with his friend Dave Goodmanon, in 1987 the composer recorded the first album Immature: For The 80's Man on tape. Later copies of these love ballads were sold on eBay. Continuing his specialization at UCB, Parker proves himself as a musician and creates a rock band, in which he is the lead vocalist and keyboardist. From live performances, the rockers could only boast of opening acts for Primus and Ween. The group has not released a single studio album. And in 1997, Parker conceives a television show as a means of promoting his musical group.

However, the animation project "South Park" is suddenly becoming very popular. It seemed that the music should recede into the background. But Trey is putting together a comedian rock band from the South Park members. The abbreviation of the name DVDA stood for the sexual position double vaginal - double anal, featured in the comedy of pranksters "Orgasmo". With the help of the band, Parker records music for most of his projects. He has created almost every song that sounds in South Park. Parker's hits from BASKetball and Team America: World Police, such as America F * ck Yeah, Freedom Isn’t Fre, Everyone Has AIDs. For a long time, the humorous song of the humanoid Chuuya "I Am Chewbacca" was the leader in the number of listens on the Internet. Trey Parker was even nominated for an Oscar 2000 with a song called Blame Canada, co-written with Mark Shaiman for the feature South Park: Big, Long and Uncut. On the TV channel, which broadcasts animated series and live-action shows for adults, in the "Advalt Swim" block, Parker is responsible for the vocals in the title track Saul of the Mole Men.

The composer and musician is also known as a talented voice actor. Being able to imitate about 70 different voices, he speaks for the vast majority of characters in South Park, including children (their intonation is achieved through software processing). The main villain in Despicable Me 3 has the voice of Trey Parker.

The nuances of personal life

Trey Parker studied Japanese as a student and retains an interest in the culture of this country. In 2006, he married a Japanese girl, Emma Sugiyama. The romantic proposal had been made to the bride a year earlier, while staying in the villa of his friend George Clooney in Italy. Sitcom producer Norman Lear acted as a priest at the wedding ceremony in Hawaii. The couple regularly appeared at all receptions and parties. However, two years later, the family broke up.

In 2014, Parker married Boogie Tillmon, who has a daughter, Betty, from another marriage. Not so long ago on the forums of fans of "South Park" there was a message about the separation of the spouses, the reason for which is not specified. Already from the title of the publication "Trey goes to Matt?" it can be seen that the authors once again hint that the second member of the shocking duo of South Park creators is Parker's partner not only in creativity. Scenes from the movie "BEYSKETBALL" add fuel to the fire. And also Parker saying about their relationship with Matt Stone: "Friendship grows stronger when you have something special, something that you do not share with the rest of your friends."

Anti-social type and his personal views

It so happened that Trey Parker's companions, both in life and in work - greasy jokes and banter, obscene jokes and toilet humor, caustic satire and shocking. While still a college student, Parker was recognized as the "class clown". Today, many experts in the field of the film and television series are inclined to believe that he is a master of topical provocations and topical trolling, who has nothing sacred. Here are some examples of this:

  • Parker's parents and sister, who became the prototypes of the main characters of the controversial TV series "South Park", are not very happy with the way he treats them on the screen. Trey did not even bother to give the cartoon characters from the Marsh family other professions and names. The occupation and the names of the animas are the same as those of his relatives - Randy, Sharon and Shelley. The father is offended most of all - in the series, Randy regularly becomes the object of the most disgusting and absurd gags (he shows magic tricks with his genitals, then he will impose a monumental pile for the Guinness Book of Records). However, the son declares that with all his love for his father, he cannot stop mocking him.
  • Being a rather exalted person, Parker constantly gives the public a reason to discuss his behavior. One example of shocking was the appearance of the creators of South Park at one of the Oscars in outfits that parody the style of Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow.
  • Almost all of his scripts and projects are characterized by provocative statements, obscenities and "outhouse" humor. The world record for the most obscene language in an animated film belongs to "South Park: Big, Long, Uncut," which has 399 curses.
  • For the director, in his film works, it is traditional to read the mockery of Scientology, offending the feelings of believers. When asked by reporters whether he believes in God, Parker replies: "Yes." In the television series "South Park" and in other projects, he often uses the phrase "God bless us all." At the same time, in an interview with the press, the showrunner repeatedly stated that from his point of view, "all religions are super funny, and the story of Jesus is meaningless."

According to Parker's own assessment, cited in one of the press releases, he is "an anti-social type, not prone to conflict."
