Of all the variety of roles played in the theater and cinema, one can especially single out his characters from the so-called elite and powerful elite top of society.
Short biography of Viktor Smirnov
The future leading actor of the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg was born on August 4, 1945 in the town of Klin near Moscow. An ordinary Soviet family, far from the world of art and culture, gave him a start in life at a glass-blowing factory. But a special craving for the beautiful and the skill of reincarnation did not allow Victor to devote his career to the technical profession, and after a circle of amateur performances, he decided to continue thematic education at the Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod) theater school, after which the actor went on the stage of the Penza drama theater for ten years.
In this theater, Viktor Smirnov brought his acting skills to such perfection that many productions were directed by directors precisely towards his performance. And after five years he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. During this period, the audience applauded his characters in the productions: "Othello", "Holy of Holies", "Quiet Don", "Virgin Soil Upturned".
Since 1983, the popular actor has joined the troupe of the Leningrad Academic Theater. Debut in Rostislav Goryaev's play "The Captain's Daughter" immediately brought him to the first roles in a theatrical collective. And then the performances followed: "Don Juan", "Minor", "Woe from Wit" and others.
Viktor Smirnov began acting in films since 1967, when he first appeared on the set in the drama film Pervorossiyane. And since the mid-seventies, he has regularly appeared in Russian films.
The last role of Viktor Smirnov was a character from the play "Bathhouse" based on the play by Vladimir Mayakovsky, staged at the Alexandria Theater - Comrade Ivan Ivanovich. And on August 12, 2017, the People's Artist of Russia died of oncology, with which he fought during the last years of his life.
