Childhood and youth

Anatoly Papanov was born in 1922 in the small town of Vyazma near Smolensk. His parents were extremely intelligent people, besides, they were very religious, which at that time was difficult to imagine.

The father addicted little Tolya to the theater, since he himself regularly played in amateur performances and even acted as a director. Therefore, Anatoly from his youth took part in theatrical performances.

With the young Papanov's studies, things did not work out. He constantly got bad grades and was often bullied. Therefore, after graduating from school, he went to work at a factory. But he didn’t leave the theater. Gradually, he became a star in the Theater of Working Youth, the audience adored him.

War

But the war broke out. The young caster was immediately sent to the front. Papanov often recalled the horrors of the war and talked about how he miraculously survived when almost all of his comrades died.

The war greatly influenced the character of the young artist. She forever settled a spark of sadness in Anatoly's naturally mischievous disposition.

After being wounded, Papanov was sent home, but he remained at the front. He began to go to the front line with concerts, trying to alleviate the plight of the warring soldiers and officers. Then, for the first time, the thought came to Papanov that acting was his vocation.

Education

He decided to enter GITIS. But he came late, the entrance exams were already over. The rector of the institute decided to listen to it and was pleasantly surprised by the talent and training of a quite ordinary-looking young man. Papanov was admitted to GITIS immediately for the third year.

Career

Anatoly played with success in various theaters of the USSR. Among the spectators, the expression “walk to Papanov” even appeared. The actor did not really like cinema, because he felt somewhat constrained in front of the camera. Nevertheless, the comedic roles of Kisa Vorobyaninov and Lelik from The Diamond Hand made him famous throughout the country. And in the film "Cold Summer of 53" the actor showed all his dramatic talent, shrilly playing a political exile.

Personal life

Anatoly Papanov has been married to his wife Nadezhda Karataeva for more than forty years. Anatoly's wife was also an artist, they met while studying at GITIS.

It is difficult to imagine a more ideal relationship. The spouses never quarreled, they knew how to resolve all issues peacefully and quietly. Perhaps the war has sharpened both characters, and young people have always remembered that life is short and it is inhuman to spend it on quarrels.

Family happiness is quiet, you can't write much about it. But, thank God, there are such families.
