Biography
Carlos's music studies began at the age of five. His father, a professional violinist, noticing the boy's talent, decided to teach him musical literacy on his own.
When the boy was 8, the family moved to Tijuana. It was there that Carlos heard rock and roll for the first time. The energetic music won his heart. He asked his parents to buy him a guitar, the request was fulfilled. Having quickly mastered the instrument, Carlos began to play, imitating his idols: BB King, Lee Hooker and other popular guitarists.
A few years later, Carlos was invited to play in the TJ's group. On stage, he stood out for his unusually bright acting and eccentric behavior. Performing on stage allowed the young musician to earn good money, he gave part of the money to his parents.
Career
After leaving school, Santana creates the Santana Blues Band. The group tours a lot, performs both in small pubs and in serious music clubs. In 1969 his first recording was released, The Live Adventures Of Al Kooper And Michael Bloomfield.
In the same year, the group performs at the famous Woodstock Music Festival. The audience received the composition "Soul Sacrifice" with incredible enthusiasm. In November, the musician's first album, entitled "Santana", was released.
The release of his second album in 1970 was a sensation. The album entered the top ten of the most authoritative American charts immediately after its release. The composition from this album, Black Magic Woman, has become the musician's calling card.
In 1971, two of its members left the team; they explained their departure by disagreement with the dominant behavior of Carlos.
In 1981, the recording "Zebop!" Was released, which was received with enthusiasm by critics and topped the charts. In the eighties, Santana toured a lot, took part in music festivals. Records several albums that did not have much success.
In the nineties and two thousand, he continues to record albums and tour, but his work is not very interested in the broad masses.
In 2014 he wrote and published his memoirs, the book is called "The Universal Tone: Bringing My Story to Light".
In 2017, his album was released, recorded with the Isley Brothers under the name The Power of Peace.
Personal life
In 1973 he married Deborah King. Three children were born in the marriage. The couple divorced in 2007, after 34 years of marriage. Together with Deborah Santana, he organized Milagro, a charity organization that provides material assistance to educational and medical programs.
In 2010, he proposed to Cindy Blackman during a concert in Chicago. The couple formalized the relationship in December 2010, after the wedding, settled in Las Vegas.
