Orthodox believers throughout their lives try to keep holy water close at hand. She, as a symbol of holiness and purification, strengthens faith in people, gives strength and is considered healing. Historically, there have been certain conditions for the storage and use of consecrated water.
Instructions
Step 1
When a person is baptized, he renounces temptations and defilements. This sacrament occurs with the immersion of a baby or the washing of an adult person with holy water, which symbolizes liberation from sinful actions and thoughts, as well as becoming on the path of Orthodoxy. From that time on, the believer considers it his duty to keep consecrated water in the house. Her place is not at the front door, but at the icons. If you brought water home, put it on the table instead of on the floor and treat all family members with it.
Step 2
Drinking consecrated water is allowed not only during fasting or before communion. In the morning, you should wash with it and take a few sips on an empty stomach along with prosphora. These actions are accompanied by a special prayer. The official website Pravoslavie.ru published the text of the prayer for the acceptance of prosphora and holy water: “Lord my God, may there be a gift of your holy and holy water for the enlightenment of my mind, for the strengthening of my mental and physical strength, for the health of my soul and body, in the conquest of my passions and infirmities through Thy infinite mercy through the prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother and all Thy saints. Amen."
Step 3
Do not refuse if someone asks you for permission to drink holy water. She not only nurses the sick, but also sanctifies the dwelling, parishioners in the church, and even household items. This water can be used for cooking, but be careful not to waste it carelessly, such as washing a car with holy water, etc.
Step 4
According to the Orthodox religion, Epiphany water is considered a special shrine. It has not deteriorated for years. If on the eve of Epiphany or on January 19 you do not have the opportunity to collect consecrated water in the temple, it is believed that even tap water on these two days has the same sacredness and power. It is allowed to drink Epiphany water, but it is customary to store some of it throughout the year until the next feast of the Epiphany.
